Louisiana has always been among the top states in terms of producing NFL talent per capita, and the 'per capita' distinction says we have the highest concentration of NFL talent in America. It's funny how people throw that out there to sort of discredit the statistic, which is a very important one.

The fact that LSU currently has the most players on current NFL 53-man rosters is directly connected to how fertile Louisiana football is, and has always been. Louisiana has always had a lot of guys in the league. Before Saban and Miles, the players were playing college football, for the most part, at schools other than LSU.

It's not a delusion. It's a fact. That, along with our fans, stadium, TAF, and facilities make LSU one of the best jobs in America.

Saban, and especially Miles, show us all how inept the previous coaches at LSU, who failed, were.

Per capita of course!
We are fourth in raw numbers

Think per capita is how u tell

Of course a state with higher numbers is going to have more gross talent.

They have more people.

LTF, you'd be surprised at the amount of ranters that cannot grasp this info....it has gotten to a point some fellas that cannot understand it will just dis you because they simply cannot comprehend this.

Also, think about how we are the only worth-while D1 School in the state. MS has two or three that vie for all players in their state; Alabama has two, TX has 5, GA has 2, FL has 3 (maybe 5), while we don't compete with any schools in La.

But good luck getting this point across....as well as wait for some ranter to reply with the obligatory recruiting budget blurb. It's fun to hear!

A guy who couldn't recruit (pre-Internet and before recruiting was nationally followed and rated by people other than coaches), followed by a truly terrible coach. Both were hired by Joe Dean, an AD who makes Alleva look like a damn genius.

The rest was DiNardo showing what an average coach could do if he did good job hiring assistant coaches, recruiting some key guys, and managing the program. He then promptly turned around, got too controlling, drove off the staff, missed on more guys than he brought in through recruiting, and showed how an average coach could mess it up here.

That's about it for the 90s.

Miles has certainly proved during his tenure that an average to above average coach who hires a good staff and recruits well will succeed here.

So what would prevent that from happening again?

Look at all the places where the AD thought the grass was greener only to find out in most cases it really isn't greener, and in fact can be more reddish/brownish

Per capita Louisiana is the most NFL talented state in the nation by far.

But, obviously states with 20 million people have more NFL players overall.

No they are not. LA doesn't even have half the players CA has in the league.

Btw only 1/3 of Bama players are from Bama where 70% of ours are from Louisiana

We won a title with 51% of our players from OOS. Mostly due to numbers being low because of hurricane. It took almost 6 years before we saw Nola become the hotbed is once was.

Now per capita, yes we have the most NFL players. Ms is rt behind us but has a much lower population. But states like Florida Georgia, texas, Cali, Ohio have such higher population it doesn't matter there are more than 1 school. The sheer numbers can support more than one team and still be more talented than LSU.

Look at georgia. Two D1 programs. Louisiana has 5 with way less prospects because of population numbers.

Another thing is the style of play here. LA is always loaded with athletes. But recently, DTS have been hard to come by, same with linebackers and qbs. What have been some of our best positions NFL wise? Rbs, wrs, dbs. LA has those players. But you need more than that to win championships. Our recruiting reaches further than ever now in part because of Les Miles.

Recruiting isn't as easy as you think. The last qb from LA to get drafted was Stefan lefors. Saban couldn't get him or eli to come to LSU. So no LSU does not recruit itself.

No one is going to convince me we have a distinct advantage over, UF, FSU, Miami, USC, UGA, tOSU, Texas schools and Bama. We don't.
