I know we all have our preference, but I’m going to relax a bit about the final choice. I think any of the names most commonly thrown about - Riley, Aranda, Campbell, Napier… will do great here.

The one thing I don’t want is another clown like Miles or O. We don’t need an eccentric personality leading the team anymore. We’ve had 16 years of that, and I think as long as we have a coach grounded in reason who knows X’s and O’s and is, well, normal… we will be fine.

LSU is a huge emotionally-driven monster like the Hulk. LSU with a brain is the scariest thing in college football. That’s why the SEC is terrified of this coaching search right now.

Campbell turned me off with his my goal is to have the closest team in Iowa state history remarks. You can’t think that way in the SEC

I agree with you with the candidates but both of those coaches won national championships as the head coach of LSU. And neither will be coaching next season let it go angry man it’s 7am on a Friday chill out

That’s literally the type of shite Saban says. What are you talking about?

I would argue that the lack of team “closeness” has been LSU’s particular Achilles heel for the last 10 years, especially. And as another poster said… Saban preaches that. Get the team right, and the wins are a side effect of that. It’s in his book.

And yes, we won two championships with our rah-rah clowns in charge, and I will give them credit for it, but I think it’s disingenuous to suggest that is the model for sustained success and stability. Most reasonable Tiger fans understand fully the great convergence of luck and talent it took to pull those two championships off.

Agreed. Miles and Orgeron debunked the Peter Principle as they both rose to levels well beyond their level of incompetence.

If O’Brien or Jimbo are hired, then Woodward runs the risk of joining those two outliers.

I agree except with Campbell I think he will fold under the pressure of LSU expectations like a cheap suit.

I will replace his name with Cristobal. I am hoping Mario is the name that like Jay Johnson gets slightly mentioned and the day before he signs the news really breaks, but I would be happy with the other three.

I'm hardly riding for Napier, but cmon dude, he'd do well at LSU. True, he's more of a gamble than the others, so his contract will be commensurate with that and we get out of it if necessary.

I'd MUCH prefer Riley or Aranda, but Napier is significantly better than both Miles and Ed.

I don’t want to “do well”.

However, I would much rather him that that POS BOB. Anything is better than him including drinking rat poison.

You can say whatever you want when you are winning. You’ve heard Nick Saban say winning wasn’t the goal when his team was picked to finish 1st in the SEC and then lost 4 games?
