it's been a while, though. It all depends if he can get the likes of ed reed, sapp, barrow type players. when he had those players, he was good, when he didn't, he wasn't so good.

I wonder if (read: hope and pray) the Ted Roof announcement was made today because AU wants to make a play for Shannon before he takes the Arky offer.

Ok. It's worth pointing out that defense has only been half the problem versus Bama since Petrino has been there.
How bout we wait and see if Shannon is actually hired AND we wait to see if Ark has a top 15 defense after he's hired k?

we already called dibs. you guys can have willy though. He is better than roof just don't expect fundamentals to be taught and also plan on sticking with the bend to break mentality.

that "high scoring" offense didnt exactly produce results vs LSU and Bama this year, and it has never produced vs Bama.
Ark simply getting a good DC is not going to make them king of the West. They will beat up on the weak teams even more, but they got a ways to go before they are knocking off the big dogs.
It is a move in the right direction though.

This is a big problem but could be solved by more offensive opportunities given to us by the defense instead of our defense letting the other team drive down the field score and then putting in an offense that hasn't had the ball in a quarter.

I agree. I think it will make us closer to Bama and LSU and further away from the rest of the country.

IMO upgrading the talent on that side of the ball is going to be more important than just getting the right coach.
