Logistically, how could Harbaugh take the Michigan job?

The 49ers still have 4 games left. Would he pull a Petrino and bail mid season when they are 7-5 and still in the playoff hunt? Would he coach the rest of the year as a lame duck? What if they somehow snuck into the playoffs and made a run into mid-late January--would he give up an entire recruiting season? Could they recover from that?
Besides the fact that I don't think it makes sense for a young man at the height of his profession to go from the big leagues to the minors (despite it being his alma mater), I just don't see how it's logistically reasonable.
I am, however, intrigued by that post earlier today that said he went from 8:1, to 2:1, to off the book at one of the books in Vegas. I have no idea if that is true or not, but it would seem like it would take a lot of scratch in a short time to change the odds like that. Was there anything to that or just more bullshite?

When the GMs daughter started publically bashing his OC, and then find out the GM is tossing Harbaugh out as trade bait . . . he was pretty much gone at that point

Maybe, not sure what his financial obligations would be to the 49ers and what UM would be willing to negotiate in those obligations.

He would probably think that his name alone would keep all committed recruits and sway others without much work at all.

Even if he left the 49ers, the Jets, Oakland, Falcons, and probably Chicago will all be open for him.

I know. I don't think he'll be in San Francisco or Ann Arbor next year. But the NFL timeline is much more logistically conducive to switching teams.

It would be one thing if he was getting run out of SF for bad on field results and Michigan was the only feasible option for him the be a HC next year. The reality is that there are multiple NFL lining up to get him as thier HC. Unless he just absolutely hates the NFL (which doesn't seem to be the case) he's not going to Michigan. Unless they are just completely delusional, it's time move on and find the best realistic candidate.

Why would he not take the Oakland job? From my understanding, logistically he would not have to move his family.

if he takes the Mich job he pulls a Petrino and tells the 49ers to go fuk themselves. Thats what i think he does.

I think he stays in the Valley and teams the Oakland job at season's end. Timing is not right for the Michigan gig with respects to critical recruiting time.
