He spent one year at LSU in 2000 and then left for Ohio State. He is from Ohio and played college ball at Wisconsin and he was a GA at MSU and assistant coach at Ohio State. He left for the NFL and was DC and even interim coach in the NFL.

MSU doubled his salary to get him to leave Colorado and most people felt that was crazy.

Yes he spent one year at Alabama as an assistant and was the DC at UGA, but he's a Midwestern guy who has extensive NFL experience at Chicago, Jacksonville, and Cleveland.

Tate will leave LSU in a few years for a job at a school with a higher academic ranking (Big Ten, some Pac Ten, UNC, UVA, Duke, Texas, and other schools). LSU is not a destination job for someone like Tate.

Michigan State since they were wiling to pay Tucker so much money after a 5-7 season at Colorado will pay him to stay in East Lansing. If they are willing to make Tom Izzo one of the highest paid coaches they will do the same for Tucker. Remember if you're woke you don't want him to leave.

Tucker will leave MSU for the NFL if he leaves; not LSU.

I respect your analysis, but Tucker is the best coach and the next coach

I tend to agree with the OP. I wouldn't mind Tucker, but I don't see him taking a 3rd diff p5 job in 4 years. I think MSU will raise him to over 7MM if he keeps his current trajectory this season and that will be enough for him to stay.

He should stay at Mich St.

If we are going this route then give me the guy who won a Natty here, Aranda.

I appreciate your effort here, but…

The reason why Tucker is at MSU and being paid so much is because Saban called the AD and Administration and told them to pay what ever you have to in order to get Tucker out of Colorado.

Most of his college recruiting has been done in the SEC not the Midwest.

Tucker won’t be going back to the NFL anytime soon.

If Tucker keeps this up over a few seasons he'll be at the top of the list to replace Saban. When Saban tells MSU to hire you the Godfather thinks highly of you.

The guy is a good coach who has done wonders there regardless of his race. He’s in contention because he’s done a great job. The non-woke crowd are the only people making an issue of his race.

Thank God LSU didn’t listen to him when he left here . His recommendation , Houston Nutt wasn’t a good recommendation. He can’t be found with a searchlight at this moment.

That would be in his best interest, MSU plays in a shittier conference and they just beat their first team today with a winning record. If Ohio St don't drag their arse he should stay because he could compete there yearly. He comes to sec and it's like jumping into a lake of piranhas

Houston Nutt would've been fine at LSU because recruiting isn't going to fall off badly no matter who is the coach. Nutt would've won a natty at LSU if Les and O could.

because he was 7-12 as a HC before this year.

An elite program should NEVER hire a head coach based on one good year.

So, why wouldn't he say the same thing to MSU now? He'll tell MSU to pay what it takes if Tucker gets another offer.

There's nothing in the SEC that Mel Tucker hasn't seen. Nothing.

The Big 10 is tougher than the SEC this season.

He may or he may tell Tucker do what’s best for him if he’s serious about winning a championships.

Tucker isn't coming to LSU. MSU is paying him top 15 money and will pay him more after this season. This isn't like Saban coming to LSU.
