Is that how you measure good coaches? Nah, they were very limited by lack of talent and a losing culture which was hampered by local politics. I don’t know beard, maybe he is the best, but to say Prescott and DeJohn weren’t great coaches at LO is a disservice.

Edit: let me add as to eliminate bias, Prescott and I were not fans of each other. Part of the reason I transferred out was because of him. It wasn’t until I was older and could look back I was able to understand him.

Sorry I hijacked the thread… moving on.

Never said they weren’t. Go back and read my post. In fact complimented the quality of men they are. Just saying, if we’re talking about success on the field, then wins and losses/playoff births and wins do matter.

I don't like taking up for Live Oak but that is not true. They blew out U-High and John Curtis this year. They have some talent but like someone else said. They are basically the same team from SFLA all they way through high school. Denham and Walker have three junior highs that feed to one high school. Live Oak has a much larger pool to pull from for junior high than anyone else in the parish.

Um, beard was one of the last two and was literally the best coach in school history

I guess that depends on how you define a coach....because in my book, while he may be a dude who can coordinate wins...he is not a coach. It is easy to coach a superstar who has everything going for him.....the kid who needs coaching is the talent that has some things holding him back. A good coach gives kids more than "X"s and "O's.

Hutch Gonzales is interviewing there today. He’s currently the OC at Central. He and Cassard are connected through baseball. Book on him is that he’s a good x and o coach but notoriously hard to work for. Very standoffish. Which is coincidentally the book on Cassard as I understand. One thing to consider is that Gonzales got fired from mandeville after having relatively good success there, so where there’s smoke there’s likely fire. Live oak doesn’t have the greatest track record for allowing for assistants either, so it’s a bit of a tough spot

Yes, Sud is a stud. He’s a great bud. Likes playing in the mud. If hired, would make a thud. He’d have all those country folks chewing cud. He’d always be out for blood.

LOHS coaching staff has been notified that Hutch Gonzales has accepted the Head Coach position. Not sure when an official announcement will come from the school via Facebook or Twitter.

LOHS hired Hutch; it’s on their FB page, but I haven’t seen it posted elsewhere.
