I played for OU during this time and honestly we didn’t keep up with any of the noise that was going on…

My question is does this time around feel different?

This feels like a stronger LSU lock. But USC came out of nowhere I felt. It was crazy. We all either thought he was staying or coming. Mainly coming.

I mean, Riley stood at the podium and said "No, I'm not going to be the next head coach at LSU" while he was still at Oklahoma.

That was late late in the game.

Then the same day, or the next, Brian Kelly was announced. Again , completely out of nowhere.

Early on, I thought he would be a target. But that faded pretty quickly.

No completely different. While insiders on this board were confident, no one else was

Yeah. Very short amount of time. It all happened so fast. We were like wtf is going on.

I think some players even tweeted about Riley coming.

This still feels like a more positive situation with a lot of the media chiming in. But everyone needs to understand, anything can happen.

I remember being at the LSU game that Saturday night. Everyone assumed it was going to be Riely. Then later that night he told his Oklahoma team that he wasn't coming to LSU and it threw us for a loop.

There was a thread on Tigerdroppings last week about the biggest melts in site history. This was up there. I was up at all hours of the morning following the story.

We thought we were screwed, but were very happy the next day when we found out we had Kelly. That shows how unpredictable these things are.

I have a friend who is a big Noter Dame fan. He warned me not to get too excited about Kelly. I didn't pay any attention to him. (I talked to him today and he reminded me about those conversations).

Could this be 2021 all over again?
We will see.
I don't take anything for granted until it is a done deal.
