Now, Chicken. Don't get sucked into this false debate about which is the better coach. It's full of intellectual dishonesty.
They're both damn fine coaches. Les is just... a lot more entertaining.

That's why he's smarter than you. He's solid gold on TV and anyone with a functioning brain is aware of this.
The damn sheep in Louisiana just want a guy who will talk like the coach is supposed to talk. They prefer to hear the canned bull shite answers and can't appreciate that Les is original.
Coke Classic was an original.
The Edsel was original.
Case closed for being original.

The very same ones who hate the way Les talks can't understand why so many of us (including fans of teams he beats regularly) like him and want him to stay in the SEC.
Bottom line is Les is fricking awesome.
You bammers want Lester to stay because you beat him like a baby seal most years. Remember 21-0 in January a while back?

Yeah, and I remember 9-6 and how bad it pissed me off too.
And you responded to my point by making my fricking point. Perhaps you should work on being a little less grumpy, old timer. It's Christmastime.

RummelTiger, I wouldn't doubt that some people may hear this. Les is significantly underrated by many LSU fans and significantly overrated by a few, but he's a pretty darn good coach.
There could be a few reasons this is what's being heard:
1) Les is a legitimate candidate and they are trying to sign him.
2) They are releasing some names just to get discussion going amongst the alumni.
3) I hate to say it is most likely, but UT could be tossing out Les' name because he would be a horrible candidate to many in the UT network and hiring a 2nd tier coach that is less bad in their eyes than Les eases the blow of a mediocre hire.
There could be other possibilities, but given Les' perception to most college football fans, 2 or 3 seem to be more likely.

They wouldn't hire Les Miles to work the Drive-Thru at Raising Canes. No one wants Miles' goofy arse .

It's all these liberal Dems and Obanocchio policies that have me so grumpy and pissed off. I worked full time for 43 years and for what?......Send my taxes to the IRS so congress [BOTH parties] could piss it away on wasteful spending.
My New Year's resolution will be to be less grumpy.

Les is the like the girlfried/wife you dont miss until shes gone. Here are the facts
Saban LSU win % .750
Miles LSU win % .804
Coach that has beat Saban at Alabama most times -Miles
Sec Championships
Saban 2 (at Bama)edit
Miles 2
National Championships
Saban 3 (at Bama)edit
Miles 1
(If Oklahoma St had a passable kicker it would be tied at 2)
If the piss thowing, whining faction drives him to Texas, hope you get what you deserve

Sounds good. Also, you live in Mountain Brook. Spend a little more time around some real Bammers and avoid the t-shirt trash. Have a beer with one and just talk football -- no animosity.
We're really not that bad.

Saban has 4 SECs, but, who's counting?

You do realize one guy took over an LSU team that was coming off 4-7 and 3-8 seasons (0.318 winning %). while the other took over a team coming off 13-1 and 9-3 seasons (0.846 winning percentage).
There is a reason Les' win % is often looked at with more scrutiny by some. Les is a very good coach, but saying he was better than Saban at LSU is a bit ridiculous. In 5 years, Saban accomplished as many titles as Les had in 7 years.
Saban in 5 years at LSU never had a record below 5-3 in the SEC and had an 8-1 record in the SEC. Les in his first five years had at least 2 losses in the SEC every season and had a 3-5 season.
In the end, the magic 80% number isn't a true measure that he beats Saban in when you take into account circumstances.
Both have 2 SEC titles and it took Less 7 years to accomplish that, while it took Saban 4.

Not arguing hes better than Saban, only that it is very close and he is the best out there other than Saban in my opinion.

Some of my best friends are UA fans....:o]
It's the really lowlife sidewalk fans that get on my last nerve.
See Harvey Updyke and Brian Downing.
But then there those at my alma mater as well.

21-0 trumps everything you just posted. Want to know why? Because he crapped the bed when it mattered the most. I know you guys watched the same game the rest of us did.
And I like Miles, and it's quite possible he's being considered for UT, but don't act as though he hasn't had epic failures here at LSU.
Yeah I know Sabana lost to UL-Monroe but what other goose eggs has he laid?

AU
LSU
Utah

Or conversely you could say Saban had 2+ conference losses every year he was at LSU save the one year he won the natty.
People forget Saban getting blasted 45-16 by UGA in 2004 and 31-0 by Bama and 31-7 by Auburn in 2002 (yeah, I know our QB was out of commission).
So yeah, Les gets a lot more scrutiny and people gloss over Saban's failures at LSU.

AU was poor coaching so you have to throw that in.
