Dupre, Adams, Quinn, Harris, some guy named Buga.

There's still blue chip talent here a decade later

I'd love Miles at Michigan. In college football, it is passion and emotion that wins you games, not x and o smarts.

x and o coaches are in the FCS making 75k a year.

Right. People act like miles inherited this top 5 program. Miles inherited a 3 loss program that had won 10 games 3 times in over 40 years.

Most of the Miles' bashers here are band geeks. They hide behind a message board and spew ignorance.

You guys bashing Miles need to list your football resumes. You might have a little more credibility.

ok. So you're arguing that he's not a better coach at Bama than he was at LSU? It's pretty clear. Saban is the best coach in the country at Bama. He wasn't the best coach in the country at LSU though. No one at that time was saying such a thing. So stop with the revisionist history

A. This is an original and meaningful thread.
B. This is a redundant and meaningless thread.

1990's LSU and modern LSU are worlds apart. That's like comparing 1970's Florida to 1990's Florida. LSU is a top 5 program.

That's very kind of you to say, but ..... no.

Jesus dude. Paint chips are bad for you. He was obviously talking about the 2005 SIGNING class, which would have been recruited, primarily, in 2004. Which is why there were only 8 commits to that class when saban left. Cause he didn't recruit shite in 2004.

I mean sure he is he has progressed through his career, but he would have had the same or similar progression if he had stayed at LSU.

naw

i love sabes, but he came back as a better coach after 2 years in the NFL. his defensive philosophy even changed

the most underrated aspect of saban's development was on offense. he stopped sitting on leads and played more aggressive on offense. one of his major downfalls at LSU was sitting on leads

also, one big problem in 2004 was that he refused to adapt on defense. he bought into his 2003 hype with his blitzing and relied on it way too much. teams would literally just start throwing up prayers to WRs in 1-on-1 to combat the same defense and it bit us a few games

Miles never gets credit for being a great program CEO

That is my biggest fear about him leaving is hiring the guy that can't run an elite program with everything that involves

yeah

as everyone knows, i'm not the biggest miles fan, but i am scared of him leaving at this point

he's not the best (by far) but he's much better than average. he does some things very, very well (like be the CEO, recruit, etc). he really is finding a good offensive identity to have a solid, variable offense away from potentially leaving an all-time great resume based on his time at LSU

well saban got better after the NFL, but if he got to reap the rewards of the rosters he built 2005-2007, he'd be considered at the top with that resume. the revisionist history is forgetting how fricking STACKED those LSU teams were

Dinardo doesn't deserve to be mentioned with Hallman.

Counterpoints:

1) Miles can definitely recruit, he seems however to have issues developing talent at critical positions which offsets some of his recruiting gains.

2) Before Miles we had Saban, and before that we had DiNardo who had a consistent 3-year run before poor coordinator hires detailed him. Remember Saban had loads of talent that Gerry recruited. You have to go back to Hallman when we really sucked and that was because we skimped on spending the money to get a top coach. That isn't a problem anymore, because towards the end of the 90s, LSU has started spending the money to be elite.

3) If his players love him so much why don't they stay and stop leaving en masse, staying would help "their beloved" coach win and increase his prestige.

Who didn't want to be here and was flirting with the NFL every year.

The love affair for a coach who kicked us in the nuts for a Christmas gift when leaving and made fun of our fans when he came back to college is sick to the point of making me throw up.

When Saban left LSU was out of the SEC race in October, had nine wins, and was barely a top 20 team. No way in the world was Saban seen as the best coach in the country. More delusion by the retards here.
