With big moneyed tOSU chasing UM, Miles has got to be licking his chops over his pending raise (assuming LSU wins the NC). Isn't he guaranteed a certain amount in excess of the highest amount paid to any other coach if he wins the NC? Or is that just in the SEC?

Limited to SEC (only base and not including extra compensations)

So, he could exceed Saban's $4.68 million, but not Mack Brown's $5.19 million?

I thought Saban had something in his contract that made him $1 richer than the next highest paid coach. Was this just a myth?

Almost all the big time coaches have the conference max+$1 in their contract.

In case of Mack Brown - he is paid that not just for the results on the field but for his part in improving the Texas AD revenue by 3 and doubling the profit.

So.. what happens if post-championship both Miles and Saban have a clause in the contract that says they have to be the highest paid in the SEC?

Since one of theses guys will be a loser, he doesn't get a raise. Saban will have to wait till next year.

You have to win a NC for the automatic clause to kick in.

It's been a while since I read Saban's contract, but IIRC there was not a clause that gave him a raise to be the highest paid for winning a NC, just a ton of bonus money for winning a NC, BCS game, etc.

Per Les' contract if he wins it all he will make $1,000 more a year than the highest paid coach.

Pay Les whatever he wants. The amount of money this team's success has generated for the university FAR exceeds any salary we give Les. Our merchandise sales, ticket sales, TAF donations, TV money, and eventual bowl money is going to be astronomical combined.
