Les has to keep Chavis

I know he's not as agressive as people like but he's a solid if not great coordinator and it would be bad to have a third d-coordinator in as many years.
Continuity is underrated.

I partly agree
but 3rd and Chavis does exist. Its not likely to change!

I disagree. Keeping the co-defensive coordinators for another year would not have helped Les out at all, but would have helped continuity. Miami won NC's with Snellenburger (sp?), Jimmy Johnson, Dennis Erickson and even Larry Coker after Butch Davis left. AU's offense did nothing in '01, '02 or '03 with three OC then did great in '04 when Al Borges showed up. The Saints were on a steady decline with Haslett and turned things around when they hired Sean Payton. LSU's offense was stagnant and predictable with Jimbo Fisher and blew up with the hiring of Gary Crowton.
Continuity is overrated IMO.

After the bowl game, if Ga asks for permission to talk to Chavis, then you know that at the very least, Chavis has expressed interest. WE'll know by this weekend.

At the very least it'll mean his agent has thrown his name there - it won't necessarily mean he has interest. Agents do this all the time to keep their client on the radar and to force a raise at the current job...he may or may not have interest.
