Not a bad hire for publicity purposes. Also should help in recruiting. He's new to coaching, but I'm sure he has a lot of knowledge to share. Hopefully.

Hopefully his drug problems are a thing of the past.

New that wouldn't take long. That was funny though. Along with the Thanksgiving day 1993 game in the snow in Dallas.

While this is true, I know he was on the University of Houston campus quite a bit. I think Jeffcoat was mentoring him.

I think he'll be a good coach.

as long as he isn't involved in strategy, he'll be fine.

He should be able to stress the importance of keeping your head in the game at all times.

Well hope he doesn't coach the WRs and RBs at all.

Are they recruiting 20 and 30 year olds to play for ULM?

Super Bowl rings carry weight no matter the age of the coach or the kid he's recruiting. Especially the level of kid ULM is recruiting. I don't expect him to pull 4-5 stars, but he definitely can't hurt in recruiting.

He is brand new to coaching but he will have credibility and sway with some recruits. I think he is well worth taking a gamble on to see if he can really coach. Did anyone read where the OC and DC at ULM make $65K a year? I knew the budget for coaches was very low but that figure still shocked me. I am guessing the position coaches make somewhere around $50K.

His entire career is one big cautionary tale, re: this.

You can make more as a coordinator at a 4A and 5A high school in Texas. Being at a ULM and coaching college is good and all but is it worth it? I guess it depends on the individual coach. ULM just seems like a depressing place to me. Seems like you are always fighting a losing battle.

One of the dumbest players in recent NFL history is now a coach? And actually got a job? The mere fact that this and Curley Hallman's career are possible proves that the coaching profession requires zero intelligence. Any coach with a little bit of brains will be one of the smarter ones out there.
