No wonder he let the investigation play out before the WR coach was let go. No knee jerk reaction this time. Maybe he learned something about innocent until proven guilty.

So this guy had nothing to do with Duke at the time they rushed to judgment? Could you find something where he stood behind the team or was he just a puppet AD?

the President is higher on the food chain than the AD. The President made a call, Alleva had no choice in the situation.
Something that Alleva did take part in:
He was a member of a committee that did a 5 year review of the entire Lacrosse program. They looked into academics, athletics, and representation outside of those areas.
While they acknowledged that there had been several incidents every year with different numbers of Lacrosse players, the committee recommended that the Lacrosse team be allowed to continue participation the following season.
The President suspended the team immediately. Fact.
Joe Alleva was part of a committee that recommended that zero punishment be handed out and that the program be allowed to restart immediately. This was based on an extensive investigation. Fact.
You might not like the guy, but just because he didn't publicly criticize the President's decision doesn't mean that he did something wrong.

I just did not know where he landed or why he left Duke? Either he left because he was part of the rush to judgment group or because he could no longer work at Duke because of the rush to judgment by the university. I hope we got the person who believes in the later.

Well, with people like you who just bash the guy based on speculation with no facts, is it really that surprising?
He got a pay raise and was able to completely remove himself from a disaster situation that he was getting unfair blame for.

No, really thanks for the info because it is hard to keep up with every hire LSU makes. I must have missed the news about him getting hired by LSU while I live over here in Texas.

well, the news was just that we hired him. most of the comments about the reasoning were pure speculation. But, if you go look at the actual events that took place at Duke, his hands were tied by the President, aka his boss.

Those emails actually, for me, put to rest any doubts I had about the termination. They have been looking for a final reason to fire Leach, but he created the situation.

he's just negotiating with them. granted he's playing hard ball. the emails that stick out in my mind are the incessant nagging from sowell to kent about how much Leach bothers him. the tone of the emails is that sowell is just obsessed with showing leach who is boss and can't believe that leach should *dare* to negotiate.
leach just didnt kiss their arse and they couldnt stand it. granted, leach could have been better at his politics. If he would have made friends with Sowell he could have had his raise and more.

I don't know jack about Sowell, but I do know a little about Kent Hance. He's not your average educrat, and the agents maybe should have done a little research before trying to bullshite him.

I just wiki'd Hance and yes he's got cred. And yes if Leach's agents were playing those so-called interview in the hotel lobby games to try to gain negotiating leverage thats silly.
but also, you cant fire a coach or his agent for silly negotiating tactics. well, you can, but you will have to pay out the contract. this whole thing is a disaster.

In regards to college football---I've heard what ex-performers, er, players have to say about it. The only thing that exceeds it in shallowness and cynicism is professional football.
