Fuente, with Leach an intriguing close second.
Krags is an intriguing choice - he's 45 and still has a chance to catch on as a HC somewhere (which is obviously what he wants.) He did "okay" at Tulsa and not so good at Louisville. Just how much Petrino screwed up Krags situation at Louisville, we'll never know.
Krags is not a "wow" name, like Cameron (I know), Fuente or Leach. He's not a guy I instantly would like, like I would Monken. I think he's a borderline loose cannon (carrying a bat and the "mousetrap" thing, means he was either forcing things, poseur-style, or he's really crazy). Although I assume he would come in and be productive right away, Krags would have more to prove to me than several of the other candidates, including Logan or Chryst.
ETA: Borderline loose cannon could also describe Logan, but I think his resume is better.

What?
29-22 at a WAC/C-USA school is okay, maybe a little better. Disagree, but why

He completely rebuilt that program. They were on teh brink of not playing football there anymore before he came. The prior two coaches had .250 and .200 winning records. Prior to that it was .370 and .270. They were awful.
He came in and took them to a conference championship that next year. Ended with a .600 winning record.
Pretty impressive imo.

I'd be very happy with any of Chryst, Fuente, Cameron, or Chaney...the other two you mention, not so much. Don't think they are the right fit for LSU.

So you think Krags resume is "Pretty impressive."
I know Fuente is the sexy hire but who really does the game planning and play calling at TCU.
Now Leach has the proven record as OC and HC. He is only out of work because ESPN decided to join the Crooked James Gang in taking down another Texas University and not because the game has passed him by. If Leach were hired as OC he would only be here 1 - 2 years. This is a perfect situation for Billy Gonzales to study under the Pirate. Billy would have studied under CUM, Dan Mullen, Leach and let's not forget to mention the Wizard. This is the grooming of an Offensive genius to be. LSU will be set for years.

3. Petrino
and I'm not sure of the order.......If less could get an assurance that Cameron would not be looking to fly back to the NFL, he would be preferred. Fuente and Petrino would be very hard to differentiate without interviewing.

I really like your thinking there, borntobe. I don't think it's gonna happen, though. And when did Fuente become "sexy" hire?
Posted on 1/14/11 at 7:48 pm to Les Cajones
Wow, you average <30 posts a year. I feel honored that you felt the need to respond to one of my post. I used the term "sexy" because of the three guys mentioned he 1) is the youngest 2) has the most upside 3) has not had a college HC job 4) is a co OC. I wish we could hire him as QB coach with Leach as OC. So are you an alter?

SirLurksalot.
Gigantic names like Cameron and Leach out there and you called the Fuente hire "sexy". Nicely explained.
