Just to catch everyone up to speed and let you know what I know at this hour... Horns247 reported a rumor this morning that Tom Herman would be the next LSU coach and it would be announced on Saturday. Following that, two others, including ESPN, reported Herman to LSU as more than mere rumor. Since that time, CoachingScoop.com is reporting that Texas officials are attempting to meet with Herman's representatives this evening. ESPN is also reporting that UT president Greg Fenves is more likely to keep Charlie Strong if Herman is not available. So here's what I know. No matter what ESPN or others are reporting, I continue to be told that Strong will not be retained come Saturday. Never say never, but I'm told that's the plan. I do not know if Texas officials are meeting with Herman's representatives. I will add that the level of donor and fan unrest over the past few days has been enormous. It has produced a level of public scrutiny on Fenves, Chancellor McRaven and Mike Perrin they perhaps did not foresee. Furthermore, it has given the trio a greater sense of urgency than they realized they needed this time a week ago. That's what I have.
