re: Kiffin's Playcalling is God-Awful

people better temper their expectations on Lane if he comes.
we dont have bama's OL, qb, rb group, wrs...the cupboard aint bare but its gonna need 2 years to build it into something that might resemble an inkling of what he's used to at bama.
it will be refreshing to have someone be solely responsible for playcalling actually do it tho, for better or worse.

Let's ignore that he's changed schemes three years straight with first year starters at qb...

You are right our WRs and running backs are better.

He refuses to run the ball even though it's what they're by far the most successful in doing
Or you could look at it this way..
He refuses to abandon the passing game even though running is what they do best. (See Miles/Cameron)
He has a true fr QB who is his weakest passer yet at Bama yet they're undefeated and just hung 54 on FL in a championship game.
Of course LSU doesn't have Bama's OL and absolute lockdown defense. I get that.
But Lane would be better than Cameron himself, Cameron handcuffed by Miles or anyone else that is legitimately in the discussion for our next OC.
The rant <3 Matt Canada to no end. As someone who lives in NC and saw many of NC State's games their fans complained about his lack of utilizing talent (esp J. Samuels) and the fact that he came up small in big games.
It's easy to nitpick any OC
Everyone LOVES Herman and then is hyper critical when he's not looking good against Memphis, etc.
Make no mistake Kiffin is one of our best, if not our best option.

I'll take him over the 60 year olds that have been calling plays for LSU

It's not that he doesn't run the ball.
It's that he often abandons the run - especially in the red zone - when the run is gashing the other team.
He did it three times today.
He's great with QBs and he will draw up a few really great new plays a game but he is frustrating as hell to watch sometimes.
Feast or famine.

Hate to say it, but Kiffin is overrated. That O-Line, and Saban reigning him in is what makes that offense what it is. Just look back at Tennessee and USC. He wants to be a Briles, but he is no Briles. He wants to be too cute all the time and doesn't realize when it's time to run power.
Damn you Saban!!!

Guice would be the new Zeke Elliot in Kiffins Offense.

gotta love the anti kiffin bias here. Anything good he does on offense well it's because the players are good. Anything bad the offense does it's all his fault. You gotta love retarded fans who know nothing about football.
That's not what I'm saying at all. Our O-Line in not on par with Bama's. If you watched the 2nd half of most of their games this year you'd realize Saban reigned in Kiffin and all of his cute shite. Don't forget how many TD's the defense has scored for them in the first halfs a of games..
The wonderful Coach O I don't feel would control His buddy Kiffin the way Saban does.

Compare Lane to the last 4 Bama OC's.
Also list 5 or 6 current OC's you would prefer over Kiffin as well as the list of OC's who would've won a title with Jake Coker and a list of OC's who would have you undefeated and about to win the title this year with your true fr QB Hurts.
Go look at your point totals this year.
Bama fans are so frickin spoiled it amazing. Like fans of the Harlem Globetrotters.

I love Kiffin for what he's done for Bama and if he gets a HC job I will wish him well.
My point was not that he sucks or hasn't done amazing things for the Bama offense is that he is not this perfect, amazing playcaller that some LSU fans are making him out to be.
It's like when Chavis went to A&M. A&M fans were thrilled because he was an upgrade for them and LSU fans - who knew Chavis better - told them to be prepared for some of the downside that comes with Chavis.
Don't get so angry just because someone points out something you don't want to hear.

OC's only, or perhaps head coaches we should hired in the 1st place??

Virtually no LSU fans are making him out to be a perfect play caller.
But when you have had to endure the utter shitshow stream of OC's we've had since our last title we will take Lane with open arms if his biggest flaw is abandoning what's working at times.
Les was FAMOUS for that but could never develop a single QB or hire an OC who could.
Posted on 12/3/16 at 8:38 pm to Ripley
Good lord, man, Kiffin has taken first-year starting QBs the last 3 years and made the playoffs, won the NC, and is undefeated this year with a true freshman QB. He's a magician.
Give up your hate of all things Alabama.

This is so dumb. He refuses to run the ball because Alabama's running backs aren't very good.
I know this may be difficult for such a simple mind, but think back to LAST YEAR.... remember that?
Derrick Henry getting the ball 40 times a game? Heisman running back?
Don't be dumb.
