Most fortunately seem to be pro Riley, but for those who inexplicably are rating Kiffin higher than Riley, this one is for you. Lane Kiffin has coached college football for ten seasons. This will be the first year he will make a major bowl game. He has won double digit games three times, with this year being the fourth. After this year, Kiffin will have had two top-10 finishes.

Lincoln Riley has coached college football for five seasons. After this year, he will have hit double digit victories in all five seasons, except for last year where he went 9-2 so one would assume in a normal year he would be 5/5. Riley has had top ten finishes every year he has coached. He has also been to the playoffs 3 times, with possibly forth this year.

Ok, but what about their potential? Lincoln Riley is 38, while Lane Kiffin is 46. "Well it's not apples to apples, Riley is in a better situation." Lane Kiffin took over as coach of USC when he was 35, in a weak Pac 10, while Riley was the same age when he took over at OU.

This one isn't hard. It's not even close even before getting into the potential for baggage from one guy versus the other.

Look. I like Riley. But, to compare Tenn and USC when Kiff took over and FAU and Ole Miss to getting the OU job from a Bob Stoops abrupt leaving is silliness.

I want Riley more than Kiffin, and think he is a better coach. But comparing what Riley took over at Oklahoma compared to Kiffin at USC with restrictions on him is not fair.

Not really - I get the sanctions happened but Kiffin took over a USC from Pete Carroll that still was a prominent national program in a conference where they have the best inherent resources outside of maybe Oregon due to finances.

Where the hell are you seeing anybody put Kiffin before Riley? I think a lot of that is fans thinking we don’t have a shot at Riley. Riley is clearly the better candidate.

On Culotta this morning, both he and Mahtook had Kiffin over Riley. Mahtook had Napier over Riley .

I understand that Culotta likes him a lot. I just think in the long run, they can both bring a lot to the table and one with less drama. Scott is going to go for that one first.

Riley at 38 years old, has been at his job longer than Kiffin ever has been at one place in his career,

Riley took over for stoops and didnt crash and burn the plane either

Riley hasnt gotten fired or left after one year

Riley doenst tweet bullshite or chase coeds with funny alias'

Kiffin is a smart offensive mind who is not qualified for the LSU job...he's another Ed O - very high highs, burn it down lows

Only way I’d ever want Kiffin is if he always did lewd gestures on the sidelines at the game against Bama at Saban to remind him that he plowed his daughter

It's important to note that the reasons Riley stepped into such a good situation are largely the doing of himself as coordinator. Stoops and OU were in a bad spot in 2014. Once Riley and others were hired that year they overhauled the recruiting operation and took OU from a program that can win 10 games in a shitty big 12 to one who can go to the playoff every year.

It doesn't get the attention because it's OU and whatnot, but he did more of a job rebuilding than he gets credit for.

Obviously their situations are different but Riley has proven he can have sustained success as a head coach at a very prominent school, Lane hasn't.

exactly. with kiffin you get a great offense, but he is an OC pretending to be a HC and all the other details he misses.

its why after corral leaves they will barely be above 500 until he gets his next big prospect and has 2 years to work with him.

look at Kiffs record up and down over and over. Screams lacks the attention to detail approach.

Let’s looks at what we know so far and compare schedules.

Riley:
Took over an established program from Bob Stoups, that was regularly a top contender

Has recruits well

Currently undefeated

As of this past week the highest ranked team they have played was ranked 15

Has three more ranked opponents on their schedule currently ranked 16, 22 and 15

Got taken to the mat by Tulane first game of the year but squeaked out a win

VS

Kiffin

Has a cloud of turmoil following him

Hasn’t stayed at any one place to long as he try’s to climb to the top of college football Elite programs

Is currently a one loss team to #1 Ala-Bama (when you read it think of a Gump on the Finebaum show)

Beat #13 Hog team

Has two more ranked teams on the schedule at this time of 18 and 14

Plays in the best conference in the toughest division and is looking good to finish the year as one of the SECW’s top teams

Has taken teams at his last two stops from the basement to top contenders in a very short time as head coach (this year at Ole Piss isn’t over yet but I’m betting on the come for this argument)

I think Kif’s done better against a harder schedule then Riley. Done it with less talent. Can probably get him for a better value dollar wise. Get the joy of taking OP’s coach and make for a great renewed rivalry with OP watching them melt every year we play.

Seems like the right pic!

You are the epitome of Louisiana's incredibly poor ability to choose leaders. You choose one year to compare and, even then, the candidate you choose against is undefeated.

Undefeated in a weak conference. Vs one loss team in a stronger conference.

Elite recruits for five years. Still hasn’t won Championship. VS first year with less talented team winning in a harder conference.

You're clearly too biased to even debate with on this one.

Not really. Just like playing the devil’s advocate. I like both and could be happy with either.

#1) go look at OU pre Riley as OC...mediocre, anything but since

#2) look at kiffens pervious records

UT- mediocre his one year
USC- shitty, great, shitty, on the way to being shitty before O took over

FAU- great, shitty, great
OM- mediocre, great, next year without corral...gonna be mediocre

notice a fricking pattern? it scream great OC, not enough attention to detail for HC.

frick kiffin, riley is way better then that little immature twat.

only candidate kiffin should be in front of is Franklin.
