Was he not on contract with UT?
Was his leaving a surprise to UT or was it a mutual understanding?
Did UT want Kiffen gone?
He should fit in well at USC with the bullshite he pulled his first year at UT.
SC deserves Kiffen and vice versa....

$800,000 is what he owes Tenn for going to USC. Which is relatively cheap.

He signed a 5 year contract with UT when he was hired. Buyout started at a million bucks and decreased by $200,000 each year, so he owes the school $800,000.
UT did not want him gone. UT AD spoke to him Saturday when news about Carroll was breaking. Lane told Hamilton that he was not looking to leave Knoxville, but USC was his dream job and would be the one place he would leave for.
Lane called Hamilton Tuesday morning and told him USC had called him abou thte job. There were no negotiations about extending the contract or giving him a raise, because it wouldn't have done any good.
All per Hamilton's PC in Knoxville today.

In the long run this probably helps UT whether they see it or not.
With all the violations going on the program would be just a train wreck waiting to happen...
As much as I dont like other SEC schools I'd rather LSU beat them at their best than beat them because of probation.....

Rumor is that Lane contacted USC.

I am in Nashville today and it has been confirmed by Chris Low and another source here that both he and Monte contacted USC this last week. The phone call by O during Kiffin's meeting with the team was also confirmed. Evidently there have also been some folks around Knoxville that were "keeping secrets" about Kiffin because of his popularity. There should be some good stuff coming out about him soon.
