He will not call plays so I guess he's just the qb coach.

He’s awesome. Norvell’s right hand man, can’t believe he left Memphis as this was his first year as OC. Norvell is the actual OC, but Dillingham knows the offense inside and out.

Cool story kinda. When Norvell was at ASU, he invited high school coaches to come to meetings during spring practice. Dillingham was at every single meeting so when Norvell went to Memphis, he brought him in as a GA and the rest is history.

Excellent hire Aubies

Not calling plays.

Seems like Gus is going to train him how to run Gus’ offense.

Gus’s last two OCs left to take jobs at UConn and Kansas so I’m not sure why he’d make this move, considering he seemed to have a positive career trajectory

Actually, this is probably the best thing Gustav could have done under the circumstances.

It's become readily apparent that GM cannot coach QBs. Bringing in someone who's had some success in that area, and who isn't established enough to get this kind of opportunity otherwise, and then taking full responsibility for the play calling seems like the only logical way forward for him.

Not terribly optimistic it will work out given the circumstances, but he could have done far worse. And gives the Dilly kid a chance to prove himself on the big stage without really taking much of a risk to his career, even if the experiment is a complete failure. After all, presiding over an unmitigated disaster at AU in 2012 hasn't prevented Scott Loeffler from landing an HC gig.
