It’s pretty clear what’s going on. Lane has told LSU he’s coming. LSU has basically said, okay we don’t care when you come, that’s between you and Ole Miss, and Lane has been trying to get Ole Miss to allow him to coach there as long as possible this season.

The new coach wouldn’t be coaching the playoffs anyway. It would be leftovers from Lanes staff. I don’t see what difference it makes if Lane stays and the new coach works on his staff/transfer portal/recruiting and those things.
