This is Scott Woodward’s first BIG TIME hire at LSU for the new football head coach. Not the womens beach volleyball coach.

He is going to hire someone big. I’m not saying Aranda or Napier couldn’t be big down the road but I just don’t see that being his first “big name” hire to WOW the boosters and fans.

Everything was quiet then all of a sudden BOOM he hired one of the top 3 names in womens college basketball in Mulkey.

I trust SW and I think we all need to relax, take a sip of something and trust the process.

I trust him enough that if it’s possible to get a “white whale” then he’ll do it. I also believe that if it’s a second tier guy that he exhausted all avenues to try to get a first tier guy but had to settle for a second tier guy. I’ve got no problem with Aranda or Napier if it comes to choosing one of them.

Why do you think this? History tells a different story. Outside of Jimbo to ATM, which had more to do with his personal life and lack of admin support at FSU, what "big name" coaches have left an established program to join another one?

Maybe he finds a big name who isn't happy where they are but I think Riley likely stays in the end, and I don't think Jimbo is coming either based off his presser today. Dabo? Maybe but he built that program and has an easier path to the CFP if he stays. Who does that leave us with in terms of big names?

I'm not saying it's impossible, but lsu has historically missed on their #1 Target for HC of the football program. I am expecting a solid tier 2 hire, tbh, but I hope I am wrong.

For the record I would love Aranda and I honestly think that’s the route we go.

Maybe the smoke around Riley was getting too thick so he sent out some message board posters to run interference lol

From Louisiana, played ball there, grew up there. Makes sense she would want to come home at some point, and the timing worked out. What current big name football coaches have those connections to LSU or Louisiana sports?

He left Boise state not exactly an established football program. Also Petersen wanted to leave and he reached out. Not the other way around.

I don't follow basketball enough to comment on that one. I would have to research it but I was mainly referring to football.
