It doesn't but the turnover rate is alarming wouldn't you agree?
Depends on the reasons. Pelini leaving looks good for the program. Malveto was what it was- a bad mistake, though I believe that hiring from within can promote great morale and attract good asst. coaches if they believe that they've got a chance to be promoted. Chavis isn't going anywhere. Even, if he did, it would depend on why he left as to whether it reflected poorly on the program. The best coach in the NCAA has coaches leaving his program all of the time, and he did when he was here at LSU too.

We can find a DB coach.

I don't disagree really with anything you just posted. I will point out though that we need some stability on our coaching staff. Chavis is not flash but he is dependable and experienced. He is not one of those guys who jumps from job to job either. The idea that he would want to leave after 1 season cannot be spun into good news IMO. The discussion will then all go back to Miles and the whole issue of management if these rumors are true. We lost Chavis and kept Crowton? How will that play?

i dont think he's gotten 1 commitment since we hired him

you people that "think" Miles is "laid back" and "passive" aint got a clue.
no really, you dont
youre on the outside looking in and you pick and choose very carefully the evidence you use to support your little impressions when there is quite a bit of contrary evidence available.

not true, though I would prefer a DC with a more aggressive scheme. The D should be improved next year as they'll have had more time with Chavis.

How long have you worked in LSU athletics?
Posted on 12/27/09 at 6:49 pm to Stevo
Stevo, I am in the camp that wants to keep Chavis believe me. Im just pointing out that its a PR problem if it becomes reality.

more of a recruiting problem, IMO, though that may be what you're talking about.

he's supposedly the one who offered blackmon so IN YOUR FACE

We let our DB coach decide which DL to offer at our own football camps? NICE

Spoke to the players in 05 when Miles took over. Almost everyone of them where very verbal about the length and pressure of Les Miles Practices. They were all actually very angry accusing Miles of 'Doubling' Saban's Practice times. I found this hard to understand considering practice times are capped by NCAA but they insisted Saban only worked them 2 hours per day and Miles worked them 4. They were quite furious and didn't actually buy into Miles until After the first bowl game.

Maybe he'll start paving paths on special teams and then Rocky D. and Josh Johns can show everyone what a true gunner on ST can do.

The "wish list" would include Muschamp, Venables (OU), maybe Smart from Bama but I'm not sure how realisitic any of these are. The ECU guy might be someone to consider. Bumpas from TCU was kicked-around a lot last year but the general feel was that Patterson is the D man there and Bumpas is mostly a figurehead.
Two of the biggest (and if so legitimate) concerns with Les is that he:
1) is too dependent on others' knowledge of coaching talent and
2) doesn't cast any sort of overarching vision as to what kind of team he wants to field.
There are probably several NFL DB/asst coaches who understand the X's/O's and would jump at a chance to be DC at LSU and would do great. But Les seems so uncertain of his own knowledge/vision that he would never hire them.
For example, what was Muschamp's and Smart's pedigree before Saban hired them? Basically, nil. Now they're the ones everyone wants to hire as DC.

This. I'm an LSU fan and don't follow the Saban's every move, but I'm pretty sure he's had coordinator turnover each year he's been at Bamma. It happens.
As far as overly physical practices go, that shite's way German. Miles admitted after the Peach Bowl in 05 that he worked the players too hard before the SECCG, and he thought he needed to go softer earlier in the week so the players would be rested for the game.

Has anyone thought that maybe miles is the problem?
