Obviously I think it would be a long shot, but I also didn't see Charlie Weis being an OC at the college level. How would you feel about McDaniels? He obviously wasn't ready to be a NFL head coach, but he is very well respected as an offensive mind. Not sure if his name has even been mentioned here. What say you?

Chiefs does make sense with the New England connections. Still maybe worth a phone call?

It would be a home run...

Not going to happen.

I can't imagine that he'll get any where close to a head coaching job. Do you honestly think another NFL team is going to let him run off all of their best players?

In Morts report, he said McDaniels possibly to SF as HC but wouldn't have full control of personnel and would have a different mgmt structure there.

I'm not sure that will matter. How do you resolve having a GM who tells you the players who have to play, and a coach that doesn't even want that player on the team?

Could you imagine if Shanahan was forced to play McNabb and Haynesworth? It would be a disaster.

I heard Mort say this also and was shocked. The guy is a rising star, but proved he isn't ready to be a HC. Most 34 year olds are not.
