If Jimbo is worth 10 years 75 million, which alot of these lsu and aggie posters seem to think he is, what is the following coach worth:

11-2
13-1-National runner up
10-3

The more people talk, the more and more I see why Alleva thought it was ok to hire Orgeron.

Jimbo's not worth it, Les isn't worth it, Herman's not worth it, our fanbase doesn't think anyone's worth it. I don't know what the hell is wrong with us.
Well we got what we deserved in shrimp boat captain.

Did Larry Coker, Mack Brown and Gene Chizik turn you down before you snagged Jimbo?
Don't play dumb

It's not like his salary was going down after that. He was way over paid for the product on the field. I agree you have to spend $ to get a top coach. But $ doesn't equal success. Look at the top 10 paid coaches, all but 3 are losers. Jimbo hasn't done much since winning a champ besides getting blown out by oregon, losing to houston, and beating michigan.

Completely agree with this. Hiring the younger coach was the winning move. Look at their recruiting class already. Jimbo doesn't have pruitt anymore. It will be interesting to see which coordinators Jimbo brings in.

They're not the identical product though.
They get similar results but what I heard from Miles detractors is that it's not that we lost, but it's the way we lost, right? You want to sit here and say that Jimbo loses games because of bad QB play and lack of imagination on offense?
The reality is you're not going to find a coach on the market that's going to deliver better average results than Miles or Jimbo. But maybe you switch philosophies and that's enough to catch a break here or there that we wouldn't have caught with the previous coach.

Whats your point? Hire seems fine.

Herman is star chasing. Their biggest holes are the trenches and they are not improving there AT ALL. Their recruiting class is heavy on perimeter players. 1 DT and 2 OL.
It may be fine in the Big12, but i wouldnt get too enamored with his recruiting ranking, when its clear rank is the only thing he's prioritizing.
It's a push for hype/narrative.

How do you think the next few years play out with Orgeron?
What is Orgeron's ceiling in your opinion?

And it'll most likely end up working. There's still over 2 months left till signing day.

quote:IMO, this year was his ceiling. Next year is a tough schedule with a new QB, new starting and backup RBs, possibly another new OC. We'll lose Dave Aranda eventually and hire someone not as good to replace him.

By 2020, LSU is going to be firing Orgeron.
