Jimbo probably is the safest bet.
I don't think jimbo has as much upside as some of the other candidates but he would be a safe choice. I believe with jimbo we would probably be a top 10 program every year

I hate his offense and he won’t change it. It works at times but it’s outdated.

Why don’t you call him up and convince him to give up control of the offense to an OC who knows something about college football since 2013. Do this and we’re all on board with you. Good luck.

He’ll bring some top classes here in BR no doubt and he will keep us in contention alot. He is the main one.

No, Jimbob is inconsistent. We want sustainability. We want a dynasty. He doesn't have what it takes to accomplish such a feat.

If you want to pay 9 years/$90 mil for a lot of 9 to 11 win seasons, some NY6 bowls, no playoff appearances (unless the field expands), and no SEC Titles, by all means. Until/unless he modernizes his offense or hands it to a top-caliber OC, this is what you get.

It's not about the annual salary. We hire Jimbo and that's it. He's here until he retires or leaves for another school.

I may be mistaken but I believe LSU is 100% about upside. Its been said that any coach can get 8-9 wins at LSU, but now, after three National championships, there is no room for career coaches and mediocre seasons.

He isn't coming to LSU, and I don't think he has seriously considered it in the past 12 months. So there. LSU can never outbid A&M, so essentially you would have to convince him that returning to Baton Rouge would be such an emotional win for him that he can ignore everything he has at A&M (better facilities, a lot more money, better fan support, etc.). It ain't happening

It’s about the fact that we would be starting at such a high price and huge buyout (at least to fire him) for a guy who is unlikely to win a title the way he coaches. He’s not worth that contract without even a West title in hand.

Since he only has a 1 game win streak at this time, this would be a miraculous feat to pull off this year.

Troll? I’m an LSU grad that has been on this site for 16 years (only 13 under this name). I’m also realistic.

Exactly. Jimbo has major Les potential, where he keeps recruiting well and only loses 2-3 games a year, but structural issues keep him from getting over the hump. But his buyout will always prevent us from moving on

At some point the amount of money is irrelevant.

So LSU offers to pay him more then it's either he wants to be at LSU or he doesn't. Doesn't really matter if A&M would outbid LSU at that point.
