He’s going to get a hard look. But idk if I’m ok with Tulane to LSU. That’s a BIG jump.

I think Napier from ULL to UF shows that’s a pretty high risk move.

That's not a apples to apples comparison IMO.

Napier jumped directly from the Sun Belt to the SEC. Sumrall jumped from the Sun Belt to the AAC.

Any move is going to have risk to it, but a coach who proves he can succeed at more than one program is a good indicator he'll be able to handle the jump to next level.

I can come up with negative comparables for any scenario. I can also come up with positive comparables for any scanario.

Up and comer, overpay for established big name, promote a coordinator, pull from the NFL...they have all been done successfully and unsuccessfully. Risks abound with any decision we make. Glad it's not my arse on the line to make the hire. I prefer playing critic.

Better not. He’s another Tom Herman. Riding wave that someone else made.

He wasn’t riding any wave at Troy when he took them to B2B conference championships

Losing seasons before and after he got there

Sumrall makes a lot of sense to me. Was successful in 2 years at Troy, and now year 2 at Tulane. Grew up in strong SEC territory so understands expectations and culture. Would probably accept a shorter contract unlike some of the bigger names out there.
