I get the schiano backlash, but if im a HC worth a frick im not touching that place or that fanbase.

Same with a recruit.

This sets them back further. The Schiano PSU stuff was hearsay. He's always denied it.

This was about thinking they would get a better coach.

But, but, but...they are so righteous for protesting against an unsexy hire, err, I mean, a guy who was at Penn State when there was a pedofile there, too.

So if you are making 600,000 to coach a non power 5 team and someone offers you 4 million a year with a 12 million buyout you don't go?

I go.

Absolutely done man, the last 10 years hasn’t ended the program, our ability to write a check in the 5-7m range will not entice a coach to come here and recruits are surely invested in us not bringing in Schiano. Done man

Not to mention it’s in the easy half of the best conference with a decently stocked roster and top flight facilities. I don’t for a second buy the “scare other coaches off” line of bullshite.

UT didn't get the hire they were expecting and so they threw a tantrum. actually worse than a tantrum, they damaged a person's reputation (career?) based on hearsay.

we have zero proof that Schiano knew anything during his time at Penn State, but that didn't stop the faux-moral outrage.

even worse, politicians got involved in a desperate attempt to score voting clout.

i hope UT has screwed themselves.

I would think recruits might actually see having a coaching staff that isn’t connected to pedophillia as a positive.

Ya'll had money to offer when you ended up with Kiffin, Dooley, and Jones. Hell, you had money to offer all week and were about to end up with Schiano.

Being a big OSU guy, you should be pleased about keeping Schiano.

It's got very good facilities, tradition, money, a strong fan base. But they have had bad luck for a decade. But it's not over. It may be over for Ole Miss but not Tennessee.

Only way for Tennessee to repair this - hire Gruden. But he isn't coming now for sure

Agreed. Sick of hearing Schiano's name. Anyone with a brain knows that's a garbage hire and a mismatch.

If the money's right, I couldn't imagine Kiffin or Leach whining about what they're getting into. They'd love the challenge. Kiffin in particular I think would like having a chip on his shoulder coming in

Tennessee is still reaping what they sowed when they fired Fulmer (due to fan pressure) and hiring Kiffen.

Top it off, they would welcome Kiffen back with open arms.
