if the $6.75M number we've seen is correct, not to mention potential bonuses, that puts his pay 3rd in CFB, above Urbans $6M and below Sabans $6.9.

i like Fisher and have had him in front for a while now but god damn, Im not sure he's a top 3 coach. we're gonna be in a lot of trouble if he doesnt work out.

As the best available championship caliber coach for LSU, he is worth whatever it takes to get him /thread.

Yes, Mastershake, yes he is. The money will be reaped back in after the seeds have been sown.

Didn't want your post to get lost in the one thread so you had to make your own?

What are your thoughts on Jim Harbaugh?

How much is a Championship worth? I'd gladly see $10mm spent if it returned us to the top.

If Urban's contract is a few years old....Jimbo is worth more. By way of example, Michigan had a nice top Nike/Jordan deal until OSU and Texas re-upped. Timing has a lot to do with this stuff. Just imagine the numbers if Urbs and Saban were on the market right now.

That's not the right analysis, in my view. We don't have the luxury of choosing a coach at an optimal point on the price continuum. We either overpay for a marquee coach like Jimbo/Herman or get a bargain on a risky shitbag. It's binary. I'd rather overpay.

Isn't every new hire a risk with he potential to not work out? No one has a crystal ball baw.

Is LSU getting Urban?

You do know that LSU paid Saban the 3rd highest salary in CFB history to come to LSU in 1999. And he hadn't done much, he was an up and comer with references.

I still wonder why people are worried about salary when no one here is doing the books for LSU.

It's not like we could have Urban or Jimbo for the same price. Jimbo is the most proven HC available

And if Urban gets Ohio St into the playoffs, and Jimbo gets the contract we are hearing, I'm pretty sure Urban will go back out in front again.

yeah, youre right and i feel the same way. i guess its just him asking for even more thats annoying me. frick that. if 6.75 isnt enough he can frick off and go pout in Tallahassee.

This is simplistic thought, man.

You have no idea what LSU is willing to pay or the value it may bring.

Comparing Urban makes X to hiring a non-Urban for X+1 is meaningless. If LSU is looking to hire the talent they deem best available and market is above Urban, then that's what they do.

Knowing me, I could go into an essay explaining this, but I won't. Just think about it from a larger perspective.
