Leonhard would have been a long shot to leave Wisky if you’d focused on him from the start and threw all the money in the world at him.

That’s only one element. Do you take the risk climbing to grab the perfect apple at the top of the tree, or take less risk to take the slightly less perfect apple in the middle of the tree?
The safer bet was getting the Cincy DC that wants to be a head coach, not the Alumn coaching at his alma mater. But after striking out on option #1, what’s there to lose now?

I'm not pointing fingers specifically at LSU fans because I've seen a lot of dumbass Gator fans talk about him too.
The guy walked on at Wiscy paying his own way even as an All-American. He's making top dollar as a DC. He's literally gold-plated in the Athletic Dept there with Barry Alvarez and his handshake buddy system.
Jim Leonhard could kill a hooker and UW would bury the body and pay him a refund.
What the frick does him any good accepting a DC job anywhere else in the country?
He will eventually be named Wisconsin HC or he'll go practice in the MAC as a HC for a stint before the former happens.
He's not going anywhere else.
