As has been said repeatedly, ESPN is absolutely not unbiased in this arrangement.

They have a much more vested interest in Texas becoming relevant again for the Longhorn Network. It is literally a conflict of interest for them to push Herman to LSU.

Fortunately I don't think Herman or his agent give a rats arse what ESPN wants

I absolutely agree. I think Herman knows exactly what he wants, and if he doesn't sign LSU's contract offer today (that he reportedly has) then that's all LSU needs to know about where Herman wants to be.

However, I have a major issue with ESPN running with a story (prematurely) and acting as though they don't have an interest in the outcome, when they absolutely do.

ESPN doesn't care about LSU one way or the other. The care about attracting attention to themselves, and are completely indifferent to whether doing so hurts anyone they may be using in their self-promotion.

Then Texas just needs to geaux out get an NFL guy or the best established CFB HC they can find without promotion from the media or the slamming of other programs' aspirations. But they will get favorable treatment by the media to appease their political needs.
