Of Jimbo / Herman / Orgeron?

I think it's logical to pursue Jimbo and Herman ahead of O and I would be perfectly content with either of them getting the job over CEO.

While O isn't a hot commodity on the coaching market and doesnt have the flashy resume, he is a unique fit for this particular job and I believe he would give his all to return our program to the top. We know he will be given top dollar to get a top notch OC to compliment Aranda on the defensive side. He wants to be here and that says a lot.

I would be ok with any of these three candidates. Am I alone?

we should have had a longer list in the amount of time our admins had. The truth hurts.

Has Alleva talked to Chip Kelly? Kyle Whittingham? Pat Fitzgerald? Bob Stoops? Mike Gundy? David Shaw?

If it comes out that Alleva scoured the earth and was turned down... then, and only then, would I be okay with Ed Orgeron as the head coach.

It looks to me like Alleva is rushing to settle for O. It makes no sense to me at all.

Those are valid thoughts and I agree. I was only making my post based on the current and apparent choices it seems we are down to at this time for whatever reason.

That's the problem. O isn't in the mix because he is the best coach available.

He is in the mix because Alleva is either too lazy to consider anyone after Jimbo and Herman or too worried about a backlash from LSU fans or too anxious to have a deal in place this weekend that he isn't doing due diligence on other candidates.

Fuente, Fedora, Fleck, Petrino, Mullen, Gundy, Patterson and others are worthy of actual consideration.

If we strike out of Jimbo and Herman and hire O without even interviewing anyone it was a failed process.

Regardless of whether or not O turns out to be good or not.

LSU fans deserve better than a panic hire because the top 2 choices were not attainable.

Look if we do a complete process truly consider other candidates and Alleva ultimately says it was more important to go with O in order to keep the staff together. I would say damn didn't this staff lose 7 times in the last year? Is that truly the best we can do?

I never understood why o was in the top 3. This is truly the coaching search from hell.

I agree with the OP.

most of the other "candidates" mentioned are either second tier, terrible fits because of coaching styles or no connections to our state/conference, or they are already coaching at a same level school (close to it) already and aren't going to move laterally.

there just aren't any big guys out there.

Jimbo or Herman, or your next choice. O is uniquely fitted here and provides continuity. simple as that.
