p.s. $ is not as important as contract length.

do you know that 6m/year is pretty average in the NFL right??

I think this is inaccurate.

what's wrong with 4 million with INCENTIVES to make 5? obviously if we go 9-3 he's not going to make shite extra. so wow, a thread about a 250k pay increase so we can keep our coach?

i think even the biggest of positigers would agree that $5M per year for miles is pretty insane

I'm not "the biggest of positigers", but I'm not ruling out that Alleva may have done his homework on this issue.

And come to the conclusion that:

...the best way to not only keep this recruiting class together, but increase it, is to keep Les Miles.

...the best chance LSU has at not only winning the SEC next year, but the BCS title as well, is continuity. Namely by keeping Les Miles.

...all of the best potential replacements for Les Miles have signed extensions at their current jobs or have repeatedly given no indication they are willing to pick up and leave for another job.

...LSU faces the prospect of having to pay about the same money Miles is making now to lure a coach with a lesser resume than Miles.

Simply put, there are no guaranteed, slam dunk hires out there. Certainly no realistic candidates with a national title on their resume. It's about the worst possible time to try and hire a new coach.

And in the process lose recruits who may not feel the new coach's offense or defensive schemes are a fit for their talents, ala Rich Rod when he was hired at Michigan.

A lot to think about.
