I am not a Miles detractor but I don't think he is as pure as the driven snow either.

According to OSU (fans/coaches/forums/media) Miles was talking to LSU in the midst of his Bowl game.

Simply accept that in this era, any high profile / high paying job is only going to create more of these situations.

It is only the question of compensation - for e.g. if say JJ were to offer Saban $125 M for 12 years to coach the 'Boys , I am sure he will find some way to convince himself and the world why it was necessary for him to take this up.

I would guess that even if Patterson apparently wants to win at TCU , if UT throws a $50 M 8 year deal - he is gone.

He pulled some of the same shite you are bitching about these guys doing while he was at OSU. Hell, he did part of his freaking interview with LSU during halftime of his OSU team's Alamo Bowl game. That is utterly pathetic.

He also said he wasn't going anywhere, and then boom. He's just like them. People thinking he had the UM job and then turned it down to stay at LSU are really idiotic. He was NEVER offered the job.

I was with you till this line - This is pure conjecture on your part and just an opinion - none of us will really know what transpired.

Even if Martin or Miles choose to write memoirs twenty years hence - each one would present it in a way that is favorable to them and to enable more sales - not likely to get the truth in any case.

Kids are supposed to commit to schools, not coaches. Considering that Miles is one of the longest standing coaches in the SEC after 5 years; this should be easy for them to see.

Besides, it's bad enough that UT loses their coach right before signing day. That alone will frick them. How bad do you think it would be if the players were allowed to jump ship too?

Miles being one of the longest tenured coaches in the SEC is part of my point. Kids are certainly committing to schools, but they are also committing to certain systems run by coaches that are recruiting them. I just think the NCAA has to place some restrictions on this...coaches leaving with 3 weeks until signing day/ after only 1 season on the job. I don't think kids should be able to transfer without penalty because like you said - it would be total chaos. I certainly think this will actually be good for Tenn because I think Kiffin is just full of hot air and not a good coach...but this scenario does place many kids in a quandary.
