I'll eat crow regarding Ed Orgeron for HCHere's my thing -if he's learned so much and wants so badly to be a HC he should quit trying ti take short cuts to land at jobs out of his league. Go to a smaller school and build it up and show you can build and maintain a successful program.

Genius post. "He needs to quit taking short cuts in getting these HC jobs?" He needs to quit working for people who get fired?

You're missing the point

These assholes you speak of were right the entire time. You're just being a stubborn frick.

The idea of O winning a NC in bamas division is about as likely as me visiting Mars.

We understood that. Some of you idiots just couldn't grasp the fact that he's not a good HC.

I commend you not for changing your mind but by giving him a shot.

There are some dopes here who wouldn't want him retained if he won a national championship.

I have been is his corner. I wanted badly for it to work out. I'd love to have a guy like him, personality wise, as the HC of the Tigers. However, I am realistic - I know he didn't do what he needed to do in order to earn the spot.

Having said that, and I realize I'll get flamed for this...I'm not sure anyone could've completely changed what needed to be changed under the circumstances in which O found himself appointed interim. We don't know what O could do given the opportunity to land a top-flight OC, given the off-season to totally implement a new direction, etc, etc. But of course I realize that a school like LSU can't take a chance to find out, especially given the failures on display yesterday.

This whole debacle can be laid at the feet of our hapless administration who botched beyond belief the situation at the end of last season.

Here's hoping we land the "right coach."

Did you miss the part where I said this:

He inherited a team that everyone agreed was on the short list for competing for a playoff spot. If he can't succeed with this roster, he isn't going to be successful as a head coach. What really needed a change was the game management from the head coach. Orgeron has already showed he isn't up to the task.

Unless you were advocating for his immediate hire, there is no crow to be eaten.

I have been a huge Oeaux supporter on here but I never said I wanted him hired immediately. I said if he won out, I wanted him hired.

I supported Oeaux because I like the guy and I want to see him successful at LSU.

Rooting for him to succeed and advocating for his immediate hire are two totally different things.

It sort of boggles the mind that people have to be convinced Orgeron isn't qualified for and should not get this job.

You bring up Ole Miss, they say too long ago.

You bring up no coordinator job or head coaching since, they say he didn't want to do those things.

They say he just needs an elite OC and DC, and you point out that doesn't make him more attractive as a head coach, just less. You also note that you should just promote Aranda since it is easier to find one elite coordinator rather than two. They object because Aranda doesn't have head coaching experience.

They bring up his interim stints and don't listen when you say enthusiasm can right a ship, but not build one.

You bring up that no one else would consider him for their openings, they say that doesn't matter he's right for this job.

You ask him what his signature win is at LSU, and they say all the teams he beat were good when he played them.

They now say NO ONE could have won with this roster or made the changes necessary despite the fact that LSU was universally regarded as a playoff contender before the season.

They say he "learned" since Ole Miss but won't give Mallory, BDP (better full time head coach winning percentage), Dooley, Chizik, or Charlie Strong the same benefit of the doubt for this job.

They argue that you should remember that Belichick and Pete Carroll weren't quite as good as they ended up being in previous stops. When you argue that hiring failures just because you aren't sure who will be the outlier is stupid, they don't really have an answer for that.

They said he had to win all but one, and couldn't lose Alabama, then he loses to Alabama and it changed to just that he has to win out ignoring Alabama.

You bring up that we are just coming off a recruiting heavy light on Xs and Os guy, and they just say that he won't interfere. No thought is given to overall game planning, game management, overall program philosophy, or criteria for hiring these elite coordinators he's supposedly going to bring in.

The put a lot of stock into the fact that practices aren't physical and have catchy names.

Perhaps most concerning, they largely say they think Jimbo would be a meh hire.

So, I'd say some people just want a cajun who pretends to like LSU to get a head coaching job for the same reason I like Phil Mickelson: they make you feel like YOU could be a head coach or professional athlete.

No, O shouldn't be considered at all because his resume does not meet expectations whatsoever. He is a great DL coach and I hope he continues that position with LSU.

OK, well let's start with the penalties that were the result of the rah rah bullshite that he uses. We played completely out of control early in that game.

Let's move on to the making an OBVIOUSLY hurt Fournette the focal point of our offense for about 2 quarters. That really, really hurt us.

Let's look at our special teams issues. Botched field goals, fumbled kickoff, poor decisions on punt return.

Game management, I've always said that one of the biggest mistakes teams make at the end of games in which they trail is that they put too much emphasis on playing the clock when the primary goal should be to score. The way LSU handled its playcalling once it got to the 18 was a textbook example of this. You are trailing. Priority one has to be to score. In this specific case, you need a touchdown. I'm glad you left no time, but having the last chance to score is not as good as the best chance to score. Play action on the order of the play we used to score against Ole Miss with Logan Stokes on second or third down likely wins you that game.

Finally, during a crucial time out before our 4th down play, O is hydrating while the offense is huddling. They then frick up the fourth down play a la the Ole Miss game last year. YOU CAN'T frick UP A GAME DECIDING PLAY AFTER A TIMEOUT. YOU JUST CAN'T DO THAT.

There a many more examples but those are probably the lowlights.

The O boys like the fact he was hydrating instead if being in the huddle. After all they want the head coach to really just be a glorified cheerleader and nothing else.

It's all fun and games until you frick up the decisive play after a timeout, I suppose.

I've been trying to persuade on this for awhile. I've heard basically all of the arguments in favor. What it has ultimately boiled down to is that some people are scared to make a bold hire. They wanted to keep Miles because it was easy. They want to keep Orgeron because it is easy.

Sometimes you have to take a shot. Instead of saying no one hires three successful coaches in row, say our fricking process hired back to back national title winners. There is no reason to think we can't do it again. The fact that it is hard to do means you don't settle for someone who takes way more off the table than he brings to it. We already have a recruiting dream team assembled. Let's get some elite coaches on staff and blend recruiting with them and see how that works.

16 points? Did he fumble the kickoff? Did we not have plenty of time to go down and score? What do you want to blame him for? The fact that Jackson was in position but didn't push the guy out of bounds? OK, bad Aranda! No! Giving up 11 touchdowns in 10 games is one too many!
