Winning is boring sometimes.

What does watching LSU do????? Makes me want to puke

Napier can coach and recruit while Aranda can only coach. The number one requirement for any coach in college football is to be a top recruiter. Coaching is secondary to that. You have to be able to do both. Orgeron could only recruit.

, here come the Dave Aranda defenders.
But it's still a risk hire based on lack of experience. Anyone putting him above Riley is asking for trouble

Boring wins vs exciting pitifully coached games.
Let me see, what would I prefer? Ummm

Please give even one reason not to defend Aranda? Other than experience (of which he is gaining a lot of), name one thing against him? Every other coach that has been mentioned has some serious flaws (except for Napier problably)
The biggest argument against Aranda, who I love, is that he doesn’t coach offense. He is undoubtedly a defensive mastermind, but I still believe (the same way I did back in 2016) that the biggest factor going forward for the LSU program has to be finding a coach with the ability to consistently identify, bring in, and develop elite players at the quarterback position.
It’s just the future of the game, and is consistently the one missing piece for LSU football. If we want to be a truly consistent championship program, that is the way to do it.
Now the biggest reason that Aranda would still be a good hire is that there is already an elite QB on his way to BR (the dude was born in an LSU jersey and doesn’t care who the coach or OC is). He also has what appears to be a very good OC in Grimes that, assuming he doesn’t stay in Waco as HC, could likely bring another championship to BR with Walker at QB and Dave running the defense. Even if Grimes decides to take his shot at HC of Baylor, Dave’s prior relationship with Herman makes it a very real possibility that he would come in to work with Howard and would also do great things.
The obvious and all too familiar problem, though, is that either Grimes or Herman would move on to a HC job the moment they could (the same way Brady moved on to the NFL). Once those built in OCs from previous relationships move on (Grimes wasn’t a blind hire as they worked together at LSU) and the born Tiger blue chip QB is gone, only then would we find out if Dave can actually be the identifier and recruiter of elite QBs and OCs that the program needs, but he’d at least have a great head start by then.
So while my top priority is still easily a true offensive innovator at the head of the program (Riley, Freeze, Kiffin, Holgerson, and no Napier doesn’t qualify, although Campbell would as he has a much better history as an OC), if we miss on one of those Aranda is a damn good option.
And given his part in 2019 (it’s become obvious now just how much dead weight he was pulling) most fans would at least give him the benefit of the doubt and we wouldn’t have a split fan base that we’ve had for the past 13 years.

Like watching a Les Miles offense.

This has been directly contradicted by the Ogre the past two years. Plenty of talent, shite teams.
