Say no...

Aranda has tremendous upside and he will be a head coach soon. If we can keep O, get a new OC and OL coach. I think we have a good chance at success. Fedora just doesn't impress me.

First off we do go all in for Herman and Jimbo.

Not saying yes or no but, It's no more of a gamble than the rest of the tier 2 choices

No, Aranda has no HC experience. LSU is too big an institution for him.

I get that. I just think he is special and will handle it better than most think he can. Being a top notch DC makes one a strategist. I think while it may be a reach... He could be special.

You could be right, but you also can't say that it's not too big for the rest of the class B candidates either

I tend to agree. But saying it as a fan and betting your career on it are 2 different things

I've said before I'm not against Aranda as HC. If LSU is going to hire any coach w/o HC experience - which I highly doubt - it has to be Aranda.

My reasoning is IF you're going to take that leap of faith by hiring a coordinator as HC, you want the one with the most potential - a talent, game-changer.

Not going to happen though.

Kiffin has been a HC in multiple places. Kiffin =/= Aranda in any possible way of what I was saying.

i wouldnt bring in an outsider under the same circumstances, but Aranda would have the smoothest possible transition from DC to HC becuase hes already here. he already knows this specific team and how it runs. he wouldnt have to assemble a new staff, because much of the one we already have is pretty fricking good. he'd need an OC, obviously, maybe a new OL, ST, and SC.

carrying over so much staff, not to mention Austin Thomas as GM, would be a god send for Aranda, things would already be up and running and working well.

its a gamble but Aranda is worth the risk

He has experience... Bad experience but he has experience. Does anyone remember the HC experience Jimbo had when FSU hired him as HC? I didn't think so...

They were bold. We are not. We would rather take Fedora or Gundy or Orgeron because they had the big whistle for awhile. We have the brightest and fastest rising asst coach in the country and would rather hire a retread 2nd tier HC. I don't get it.
