And you know there’s all this talk about Taggart taking a high profile SEC job, do you contact Chip Kelly now and tell him to hold off on ucla/Florida and promise him the world to come back to Eugene?

I don't know, Chip almost got them in a lot of trouble.

I don't think it would happen

Oregon would be dumb to not be talking to him.

Looks like Chip Kelly is coming back. Feels like he's going to coach in college football next season. It's likely going to materialize further in the next 72 hours. Florida? UCLA? Somewhere else? If you're the Oregon Ducks, you should be very interested in how this ends -- and also interested in talking with your current coach Willie Taggart.

Like, today.

Oregon can live with Kelly going to UCLA or Florida. That's show business. It can also live with Kelly landing somewhere else in college football. But what the Ducks absolutely can't live with is Kelly to UCLA and Taggart to Florida at the same time. Because under that scenario, UO is left holding the bag.

Kelly at UCLA back in the Pac 12 is a nightmare for everyone except Bruins. But if Taggart isn't all in at Oregon, the Ducks need to also be exploring the possibility of trying to bring Kelly back to the campus where he enjoyed his greatest success.

Last week a confidant of Kelly's told me , "He's bored and will go back to work next season if the right opportunity opens."

I also asked: "Maybe Oregon someday?"

The reply: "Never say never, but Oregon has a coach."
