Because he was trying to be a ninja, and caught a throwing star to the balls. Now, the Haslams and Currie are in crisis mode and needed a hail mary hire, which anyone could have predicted would fail.
If they don't at least call Lane and gauge his interest (don't care how it looks, he will win, and we will forgive him), they are done.
