Though losing this game would further cement Stoops slide, I think it woulld say more about Meyer, whom clearly would move into 2nd behind Carroll, if not surpass him for #1.

With a Fla win, Meyer will have a perfect Utah '04 season, and two BCS titles at UF in four years..basically about as good as a season gets for 3 of his past 5 seasons.

Never did like him. He may be a great coach but is a cry baby and has continued the Okie tradition of running up the score.

He's a good coach. Let's face it though, in today's world it's all about the crystal.

And don't forget that Stoops came to Oklahoma when the Sooners had been going through a real down period for them. Three years of John Blake, one year of Howard Schnellenberger, five years of Gary Gibbs. Stoops got them back to winning another national championship and has kept them at the top for some time now. I think you can be considered at the top of the heap if you keep taking your team to BCS bowls.

Not so much. There are between 10 and 20 programs that have a legitimate chance to play for the championship year in and year out. Maybe 5 of those have a chance to go for it virtually every year. LSU may or may not be one of the 5. There are 100 other Division I programs that, despite not having said shot, recruit good athletes, build football teams, and go out and compete on Saturdays. Let's not talk ourselves into believing the ESPN bullshite.

I don't think it's about finishing with Stoops, I think it's about a conference that is not up to snuff year in and year out. I also don't think he coaches well against the best coaches in the country. He will always win at Oklahoma, but I doubt that he wins many more, if any national championships. Now that the game has begun and Florida stopped Oklahoma on the first series, we'll see what Stoops can do on defense.

Stoops is the biggest underachiever around. Winning when it counts, uh...counts, and he hasn't done it except for a couple of rare circumstances.

Stoops brought a John Blake OU program back from the dead. He might not be a big game coach, but OU could be Nebraska.

Is losing 5 games even possible in the Big 12?

But is 0-5 in the last 5 BSC bowl game and 0-3 in the last 3 MNC games

That is hard for any person or fan base to swallow

He is a great coach, his team tonight was good enough to win, but the mistakes were deadly

Credit the UF defense as well

Defense defense defense wins championships..

I hope our program never forgets this lesson

That's the one thing (above all) that impresses me about Les Miles. In all the bowls he's coached the team kicks it up two or three notches. I thought we might come out flat against GT, but the team showed determination. Maybe if Les writes a book Stoops needs to read it.

Texas and OU are the only two consistent teams in the Big 12. Miles could do as just as good of a job at OU as Stoops. For that matter, he beat him a couple of times when he coached Okie State. Bottom line is, Stoops is a great coach, but can't win consistently when it counts.

Well, he's been to 4 NC games in 9 years. Clearly, he sucks.

Not saying he sucks, but maybe it's easy to get thru the Big 12...and he has benefited from the leauges competition and then gets exposed in the post season...

OU was plenty good enough to win last night, but made mistakes..UF defense was the difference, which many predicted it would be

Big 12 doesn't play a lot of defense, but OU did play well last night

He's one of the best at running a program.

He wins by out athleting the competition which is much easier to do in the Big12.

However, he consistently gets beat when he's up against a team with equal talent or when team's with good coaches have more time to prepare due to coaching.

He is still a PRICK. Never seen a guy so defensive in interviews.

Poor comparison. He did lose his QB, but at least had a good back up. He does not play in the SEC ----HUGE difference.

Not to mention that the year that Rhett got kicked off the team, the backup had been in the system for like 3-4 years.

Here is a list of the ranked teams that Oklohoma played in 2006:
- Texas (13 AP/Coaches, 19 Sagarin)

Here is a list of ranked teams that we played this year:
- Florida (1/1)
- Alabama (6/6)
- Georgia (13/15)
- Ole Miss (14/10)
- Georgia Tech (22 / 36)

Much tougher schedule with a seasoned Quarterback.
