LSU fans always start the best rumors about Saban. he's going to the cowboys. He's going to ND. He's going to OSU. he's going to USC. he's going to Penn State. Now he's going to Texas (where there isn't an open job).

a. i seriously doubt bammer would match up to 10 million a year. Texas is the only school in the nation that could pay that for more than a year or two.

b. i really cannot believe i have not seen any bammer post this --> LINK Nick saying he will be there for the rest of his career is like saying bammers will quit claiming 13 national championships....lol

They'd have no choice but to dig him up...Gump football would become....

"Weekend and BEARnies!"

I can imagine Finebaum writing the column after the first game...."While Michigan drove the ball down the field, there stood duh bear who didn't budge or say a word"

This question is ridiculous. Texas' own AD has come out and said this rumor was complete bullshite. But I'll humor you and give you a serious answer to your question. Alabama's leading candidate would be Gary Patterson. His style of football fits Alabama to a tee. His teams always has a great defense and rugged running game. Kirk Ferentz will be in the mix due to his connections with Saban when they were with the Browns. Art Briles is another coach that will be considered. If you look at Alabama's history, four of their last six coaching hires were at least 50 years old at the beginning of their first season with 10+ years of head coaching experience. The two coaches that didn't fit those qualifications (Mike Dubose and Mike Shula) ended up being terrible hires.

I do not care if he goes or not, but BAMA cannot match Texas financially if it came down to a bidding war. Nobody can match Texas financially.

Worst logic ever. Bama couldn't beat Oregon or Ok St in a bidding war either, but that doesn't mean any of those schools are going to offer an amout Bama can't match like 15 mil a year. Anything below 10 a year Bama could match no problem. Saban is worth 25-40 million a year to Bama in revenues.

Agree with the Bama guys that this issue isn't worth discussing, the fact that Texas has more money is irrelevant in this discussion since Bama could match what they'd offer and that is just something Texas people like to spout off and the media throws around when in reality it means very little and basically nothing at all when comparing against Bama for coaching pay.

I do disagree on one point though. This rumor is not a rumor that was made up or even 1st reported by LSU people. It's pretty widely spread throughout the internet and was started by Texas(state not school) people with most feeling it was started by TAM along with the"Mack is stepping down" stuff. Oklahoma has also gotten some of the blame.

Nick Saban is not going anywhere. He has won a National Championship at Alabama and is playing for another in three weeks. Why would you leave the greatest football Conference ? Saban would be lonely over at Texas playing in that conference that no one gives a shite about anymore.

Saban and Miles are about manning up agsinst the best teams with the highest profile. These guys jerk off to ESPN coverage. They live for the attention. No one in the NFL is going to respect NS being a head coach. Saban dominates in college and why leave bama ? Bama can "get" recruits anyway they can, so the pipeline in on autopilot for the foreseeable future. All Saban has to do is spew his "process" crap every year, and ESPN will make sure a 1 loss bama team will play for a title. Shite, I could coach that.

I doubt Saban is going to Texas but I also do not think the Bama fans are being realistic to think that Bama is his final coaching job. I think Saban and Miles enjoy the back-and-forth too much, it reminds me of:

Ralph E. Wolf (Saban) and Sam Sheepdog (Miles)

Bama recruits:

The game:

Halftime:

Trick play - halfback option:

Not so fast:

It would be "an honor" to play again:

So now I'm making $10.00 more than you a year?

Miles talk:

You know jack shite about Bama. The Athletic Department has a surplus of $80M as of end of 2011 fiscal year. Surplus, dude. We could pay Saban $10M/year for nearly a decade without dipping into any current year revenue.

Legitimately there are 8 that are undisputed. The other 5 are a result of polls prior to WWII. I'll gladly take our 8 (potentially 9 w/in 3 weeks) over your 3 (potentially 4).

some of those are disputed/lame, but they are at least legit.

The only really embarrasing 1 is 1941.

Agree, but Bama doesn't claim 1966 when they were undefeated and coming off Naty's in 64 & 65. 1941 & 1966 offset each other.
