Saban is the best recruiter in college and would lock up Texas better than Mack could ever fathom.

Yet he would still have only a 5-10% chance to duplicate the success he's had at Alabama

How did you calculate that percentage?

I'm thinking that even Saban will eventually get too old to coach? He'll probably die one day also.

It's incredible you've called people "retarded" and "dense" during this thread, because you're in the minority of fans who claim Bama is a better job than Texas.

The point is Texas holds greater potential than Bama. You take Texas resources and Saban's ability, and you have a greater potential for greater success. Yes, Saban has won a ton since 2008, as you repeatedly point out, but you're ignoring the obvious if you discredit the possibility of him replicating or surpassing that success if he were to go to Texas. Not to discredit anything Bama has done since 2008, but let's not ignore that Alabama has benefited from the entire SEC's national perception as the best conference in the country during that timeframe.

Remember when USC was insanely dominant with Pete Carroll? And were recruiting all over the country with ease? Texas with Saban would be better. But Keep Calm and Fight On.

agreed. running like awhipped puppy every time saban/sexton decide hold them hostage for more money/appreciation it just makes the whole state of alabama look weak.

This should be the last staw for Bama with this crap. Fire him now and move on and hire another younger great coach. they will still win.

I think Saban is better than the bear
I've met them both and Bryant wins a contest of aura's. Couldn't understand a word he said, but when he laughed, we all did. Saban, on the other hand seemed to be a scared little man, making little eye contact and appearing uneasy.
But, Coaching wise, imagine Saban having unlimited scholarships. You might be right, Oh Fowl One.

word is one more year and retire then Smart takes over. I honestly just want one more year to hold onto this class. Its really special and we finally have key pieces in this class such as Hand and others. If we land Humphrey and Tabor we ar good to go. I don't mind him retiring sfter next year but I don't think the job should be handed to Smart. We need to see how many big names would be interested. I wonder if Del Rio would be interested since his son is on campus?

If Saban says no to UT, I have to imagine that he retires at Bama. I would bet big money on it.

I agree with this. I think this is it for him unless he were fired from wherever he is next and that's highly unlikely.

I still think he stays at Bama in spite of his history. I think Saban doesn't want to move, but Sexton is using UT as a negotiating tool to get him more money where he plans to retire. I also don't think Bama has to necessarily offer him a deal equal to UT to get him to stay. I hope I'm wrong. I want him gone and this coaching change would be fun and interesting to watch for a variety of reasons.

I also agree with you that Saban is better than Bear. I hate it, but I agree. College football today and college football in Bear's days are not of the same caliber. We'll never know how Bear would have done in today's world.

Nothing is wrong with me I just think its bullshite. I would fire him and find a replacement. If he's not sure he wants to be at Alabama then help him make up his mind and get rid of him...no big deal just move on.

You could argue he's 2/2 at his last 2 college programs. Not sure how that equates to 5 to 10%.

It's not a certainty, by any means. Texas recruiting has changed over the past decade. aTm is a legitimate recruiting threat - heck, we're dealing with them in Louisiana, now.

However, because Texas is still Texas, to a large degree, I would assume you would consider 2 championships over the next 6 or 8 years would duplicate his success at Bama, no? I think he's got a 1/4 chance (25%) of doing that.

Am I the only Bama fan that doesn't want Dabo?? He always loses in spectacular fashion, and he's not exactly at a recruiting disadvantage at Clemson.

He can't even handle South Carolina—a program that'd rank no higher than 3rd in the SEC over the past few years.
