Harbaugh would have been nice but realistically Miles, I believe is the best option for us right now. Hes a proven winner in an extremely difficult conference, he won an NC, he won an SEC Championship, he's beat OSU, and for Michigan fans where Michigan ties matter (not me), he went here, played here for the most beloved coach here and gets the tradition and rivalries. He's older, but he's got a good 7-8 years in him I'd imagine. He can retire here, probably a hero for bringing Michigan back (I seriously doubt he'd be a flop here) and hopefully by then Harbaugh will be over the NFL and we can bring him in.

Wow...I thought Michigan fans were bat shite crazy....but now I am 100% sure. Do you people really think that your program is really in a place right now to pull a NC winning coach away for a few years and then an NFL head coach rolls in to town after he retires???? Christ you people are delusional.

Your rivals mod is saying it's 50/50 that Les would leave our damn strong team if offered.

Plane dropped them off. They were told to close the deal with Miles over the weekend, or they're flying commercial coach back to Michigan.

A Hoke hire may be better to pull off if they wait until Miles and Harbaugh publicly move away from the job.

If the hire Hoke before at least talking to Miles it may upset some of their fanbase. Parts of their fanbase have differing opinions as does their board. They need to cover all of their bases.

Wow. Some people on here are so freaking hostile it's unbelievable. Did I say anywhere that it was a definitive scenario? No. I used the word hopefully, but apparently that means that I think he definitely will. As far as Miles goes, half this board thinks Miles is gone so I don't really think it's that crazy for me to say he is our best option right now.

Yes its a serious post, why would it not be? I have some personal friends that are UM fans and they have been giving me these types of scenarios for a month now. Maybe I shouldnt have directed all of this at this guy, because these guys have literally been driving me crazy with this.

See above post. I literally just lost it when I read a post that a friend of mine, who I told was nuts when he said it, proposed a similar situation. Not trying to be hostile towards you, I guess all the pent up aggravation at these two guys finally came out.

Hope it's more than that! I know at one point he wanted to be here, but I hope the way things in 2007 went down didn't change all that (I can't say I'd blame him if he told us FU this time).

They were. He was not totally out of the picture until some time today.

I love my school and I think it's a great place, but I'm not one that totes that we're Michigan, we're amazing we should get whoever we want. Did I think that it would be easier to get Harbaugh here because he went here, yes. Would I love for him to still come here some day? Absolutely, thats why I wrote that last line in my other post. It didn't work out though. I know we aren't what we used to be and people aren't going to line up to come here like some of our fans think but I really don't think it's that far fetched that we could still land Les Miles.

And for the record, I'm a girl.

I agree 100% the far fetched thing that I dont think is that a guy like Harbaugh would leave the NFL for UM. And the issue is if he is run out of the NFL, would UM want him?

I literally was told by one of these two guys "were going to take Les, because that's what we do and then when were done with him, well hire a guy like Cowher or Gruden to take over for him." I almost threw up on myself when I heard that.

something happened with Jim H and UM. John said Jim would have nothing to do with Michigan. That statement is going to be explained in some detail by thewolverine.com after your hire is made.

I wasn't saying it to sound like we were going to or wanted to "settle" for Les then run him out and replace him with some big name.
My hope is that Les comes here, wins big, and is able to retire whenever he wants.

Even if they knew Hoke was the guy, it would be smart to wait and at least give the appearance that they didn't rush to hire a guy most of the country has never heard of.

This. And from what I've heard Miles hasn't even talked to Michigan right now. He's probably got a few more important things on his mind right now.

This is all of course speculation, and if it turns out to be true I will be very pissed off but, I've heard Mary Sue Coleman did not want to touch Harbaugh with a 10 foot pole because of his comments about the University. She wouldn't let Brandon even make an offer. Quite frankly, I never understood the whole uproar because, what he said was true.

My question is do other University Presidents usually get this involved? I honestly don't know and in my opinion I don't think she should be, especially considering she was involved in the last one and we see how that turned out.

Then I wonder if JH saw how hands on DB was with Rodriguez and thought no way am I going to let an AD sit in on every aspect of the program with me. Who knows. Just hope this is over quick and we have someone that is not Brady Hoke.
