Then let Les leave. Part of the frustration from many LSU fans has been the inability to finish a complete season. Even in 2007, we didn't finish the regular season strongly. 2008 was terrible and 2009 you have the debacle at Ole Miss. This year it was Arkansas. As much as I like Les Miles, he is not worthy of the money Nick Saban makes at Alabama. New coach on the way.

A raise with a reduction of the buyout would be okay with me. But 5 million a year is too much.

Really bud? Please take a step back and look at the two resumes. Back to back undefeated regular seasons in the SEC. Two BCS NCs with two different programs. Come on. Don't play the contrarian just to play it. You know he's a top 3 coach in the country.

Anyways, the point of my original post is that we can get a big name coach for $5MM a year. You can guarantee that.

true, but what are we going to get for the $2.25 mil that we ultimately offer?

I would go along with a slight raise (for his overall staff) in exchange for a signicant reduction of the unusually large buyout.

It's right about $5.7 with all incentives factored in. He and Mack Brown make over $5 though.

I hope LSU doesn't try to match it(not that I think Les would stay anyway) and pass the buck off to season ticket holders. If so, I got 4 for sale.
