I'm sure he learned a lot from the head coach of east Tennessee state and Charleston Southern.
he learned a lot as the head coach turning around multiple programs and winning at all of them. Napier took a program that was top of its conference and improved it some. Some of its change in scheduling (less power 5 teams per year)

Last time cajuns been relevant was 2014. Last time they had a winning record. 2013 last time they were top of the division.

Woodward didn’t come to LSU to hire a fricking Sun Belt coach
I am with you for most of your thoughts, BUT Woodwards job is to hire the best coach available. It may well be Napier, who knows.
These searches never go like this board thinks. It’s a mystery and anyone acting like they know how or what Woodward is going to do is lying to themselves
I do hope they have bigger fish on the board though.
Time will tell

Billy will do just fine, but I think Woody is looking for greater success at the highest level.

want Napier since he’s been in Louisiana the last couple years.
He was coming into Louisiana and stealing blue chip recruits for years before he moved to Lafayette.
His familiarity with the state is a positive, but it should be way down the list of requirements. However, his coaching and recruiting accomplishments didn’t start when he was hired as the Cajuns coach.

Ull was one year out from a New Orleans bowl appearance when Napier was hired
Coastal had one year in fbs before Chadwell was hired.
Charleston southern was a dumpster fire before Chadwell.
Chadwell is the better coach with the better resume.
Neither will be at LSU

Yeah I’m just not a dumb redneck like most of you that want Napier since he’s been in Louisiana the last couple years. That thinking got us into this mess
The only people who are truly dumb on this board are those who are so anti Napier just because he’s coach at UL. You clowns need to actually read up on the guy, talk to any coaching friends you might have, or anyone who actually understands football and the job he’s done with a minimal amount of resources. It’s astonishing. He’s a hell of a coach. Not saying he is or should be the dude, but if your logic for thinking he’d be a bad hire is based on him being the coach at UL, then you sir are a fricking moron.

Well he was their recruiter, and those are just the LA boys, if you look at the list of his recruits, there's also jerry judy, calvin ridly, and Tahj boyd over to Clemson. Not many coach's being discussed have experience landing several guys like that.

That's 99% of the idiots' objections to him around here in a nutshell.
"But but but he's the coach at UL and we don't hire them types at mighty LSU, no matter how great of a coach he is!"
Notice they don't put up any fight if you mention Chadwell, who by all accounts is a worse fit for the job and from a lower tier like Napier
Posted on 10/19/21 at 10:19 pm to RazorBroncs
Literally no one fricking wants Chadwell, your obsession with Napier is suspect at best, I'm honestly starting to wonder if you're on his payroll
Posted on 10/19/21 at 11:06 pm to Hamma1122
Napier doesn’t have a Power 5 track record, it’s not going to be him. Woodward doesn’t want a “Derek Dooley to Tennessee moment.”

Meanwhile the last coach we got from ull was Yvette girouard. That worked out pretty good
