If Florida panicks they could be the 2016 Texas in the coaching search.

Remember that time Texas fired their coach just because LSU has an opening and they lost it? The great race for Herman. Oh how that worked out. Would be hilarious if Florida does the same thing this go around because it would likely result the same.

Unless they have a guy they’ve been looking at already, zero chance they jump out and try to compete with usc and lsu rn. They’ll probably give Mullen another year. But start looking rn. Like we did last year probably.

Mullen deserves a chance to retool the staff, but it wouldn't shock me. I doubt they play the role Texas did though just because Florida is a lateral job at best compared to LSU and we don't have Joe Alleva. Kiffin to UF makes a lot of sense.

If Florida panicks
not likely....

- their AD, Strickland, is not known to be a panicker or somebody that rolls over

- Strickland was instrumental at hiring Mullen at MSST (as Assoc. AD - becoming their AD the next year)

- Strickland also hired Mullen at UF in 2018 having become their AD in 2016.

But if they did, that would be an interesting search. To be honest I can imagine it being very much like our 2016 in ways that you mentioned- and others. One thing they'll be screaming for is the new hire be an ace recruiter as an overreaction to Mullen's poor recruiting. They will also be screaming about keeping talent in-state when Diaz is running circles around Mullen on the recruiting trail.

ETA: I'll throw this out their too... IF UF were to fire Mullen, with Strickland staying on, he has ties to Mich. St. also. Tucker to UF?
