2008 Oregon State 9–4 7–2
2009 Oregon State 8–5 6–3
2010 Oregon State 5–7 4–5
Look at their record in the Pac10. Games against teams like Washington, Washington State, Stanford, Arizona, Arizona State. Best record is 6-3. Loses 1-2 out of conference games every year.
If Miles leaves, then let's get a guy who can improve their team during their tenure, not maintain mediocrity.
Look at Harbaugh in the Pac10:
2007: 3-6
2008: 4-5
2009: 6-3
2010: 8-1
That's they kind of guy you're looking for imo.

Mike Riley is a good coach. He develops his players to their max potential. He does wonders with 2 and 3 star players.
My cousin went to O State as a 1 star cornerback from New Orleans, and left as a 3rd round pick for the Steelers.
But, with that being said he's neva eva leaving Corvallis.

I think he's been rumored to be the next guy since Dietzel left.

Um. No.
Never gonna happen.
But very flattering after Riley walked into Tiger Stadium and all but beat Nicky Saban in '04. The voodoo hex we put on the future best kicker in Oregon State history saved us from a very embarassing loss.
Riley is very happy in Corvallis and Beaver fans are far more tolerant of the ups and downs that come with trying to recruit kids from California to Corvallis and compete against Nike, Inc and Sark. Riley guided Corvallis High to a state title and despite playing for the Bear (he went to Bama because his family was originally from Bama), Riley is not going to leave Corvallis -- not even for Bama. It's the perfect job for him and barring back to back 3 win seasons they'll never run him off.
Full disclosure: I've lived in Oregon for 8 years and had Beaver season tickets the year they beat the $anchise.

Look at their record in the Pac10.
Look at their record before Riley & Erickson.
Oregon State is historically the Iowa State of the Pac 10.
For Beaver fans, the last 10 years have been EPIC compared to the 70s, 80s and 90s.

On paper, it might look like an underwhelming hire, but if you know football, you'd think otherwise

We have a clueless fan talking about his record and yet they fail to realize that he's done the things he has done at Oregon State!!!!

Everyone repeat after me: Riley is not leaving Oregon State. He has a lifetime contract and has turned down Bama, etc., etc.

Comparing Oregon St to LSU is like comparing the sun and moon
Saban's sun almost lost to the moon on a Saturday night in Death Valley.
Beavers didn't come prepared for our voodoo:
quote:
Oregon State's Alexis Serna missed three extra points Saturday night, including one that would have forced a second overtime, and (No. 3 ESPN/USA Today, No. 4 AP) LSU escaped with a 22-21 victory over the Beavers in the season opener.
"It was a crazy finish," LSU defensive end Marcus Spears said. "We fought as long as we could fight, and fortunately he missed that extra point. I'd like to think that we had something to do with that. We got a lot of pressure up the middle and I guess he took his eye off it."
That was Serna's very first game as a college kicker. Dude went on to set a record for the Beavers by kicking 144 consecutive PATs and is tied for Pac 10 record for most field goals in a single game.
It's not the first time Louisiana used voodoo against Oregon.
Check this out:
quote:
As hard as it is to believe, some people find the Tualatin [it's a suburb of Portland, Oregon] Crawfish Festival a bit unorthodox. In 1961, Tennessee Ernie Ford declared the festival the “only Crawfish Festival in the world”; much to the dismay of Breaux Bridge Louisiana. A letter was sent to Peggy Gensman as well as the Tualatin Times that informed the Tualatin community that the Louisiana Legislature had declared Breaux Bridge Louisiana the “Crawfish Capitol of the World”. In 1976, a self proclaimed Voodoo Queen named Mrs. Shelby Davis placed a curse on the festival for attempting to steal the title to crawfish supremacy.
Is Voodoo real? Well, in 1977 a riot broke out during the Tualatin Crawfish Festival and police had to be called in. Because of this, the festival was almost permanently cancelled. Instead of its demise, the event has grown. The adversity that faced the festival has provided opportunity for continued growth and an opportunity for community celebration.
P.S. The Tualatin Crawfish festival is AWFUL. I went once and never again. $1 for 3 cold crawfish (not 3 lbs, just 3!) with no crab boil. Besides, our local LSU alumni boil crawfish the right way at the very same park every May.

Good for you. I'm not the one promoting him as a candidate for LSU. It's flattering, amusing but never gonna happen in a million years.
