I would normally agree that a coach is more important than players

That’s kind of hard to say these days.
You can lose your entire current players to the transfer portal now. The rules are much more player friendly. Which I am a fan off. Just sucks right now with the uncertainty.
Also looking at the 2022 class from LA it’s the type of class you just can’t afford to miss out on. It’s the type of class that can make or break you for the next 2-4 years. Getting a coach in that can capitalize on this class is crucial. Would make their first few years much easier getting this class together. Every important piece you could ask for has a stud this year from LA.

The opposite is true as well.
They can follow a coach just as easily. See jay Johnson

There's also a distinction between sacking a recruiting class to get an S+ candidate and sacking a recruiting class to get a B- candidate when you could save the recruiting class and get a C. The former is obviously correct. The latter is questionable. We'll see where we actually are.
With us in particular it's also a big problem because we're hurting as is. Even if the hypothetical coach gets a full class full of great players, we'd still need to heavily use the portal.

I agree. I just hope we can get the right hire soon.
