maybe ex texas oc,greg davis, also ex maryland head coach because if we hire somebody young and we make them look good then they are gone to greener pastures. Take chavis for example proven commodity on the defensive side but not a lot of people beating down the doors other than Tenn. what do you guys think??

Or we just hire the most qualified candidate available regardless of outside factors.

We have not beat down the doors for Chavis. Kiffin fired him. It was probably a mistake, but we have not beat down the door for him. I am very pleased with Wilcox.

Mark Richt? The Jawja faithful are fed up with him. Fran Tarkenton wants him gone.

quote:

Fran Tarkenton on 680 The Fan: UGA ‘is in in big trouble’

quote:

If you haven’t heard what Fran Tarkenton had to say regarding Mark Richt last Friday on 680 The Fan, you probably should. The most famous former Georgia Bulldog (non-Herschel division) eviscerated the Bulldogs’ coach and strongly suggested the program needs a new leader.

quote:

Francis T. began boldly — “What has happened over the last week with Georgia has been the most disturbing time I have seen in a long time; you know, people don’t want to look at reality” — and didn’t pause for breath. (A partial transcript is available at SportsRadioInterviews.com.)

quote:

Richt’s all-is-well press briefing of Jan. 4 apparently set Tarkenton’s teeth to gnashing. Concerning the announcement that Richt would re-immerse himself in the finer points of football, Tarkenton said this:
quote:

“Holy cow! Yesterday, where Mark Richt says, ‘I have been freed from administrative duties to spend more time on football.’ Then I quote him, he said, ‘The moves give [me] more time to study the game of football and be an expert and be on the cutting edge.’ What has he been doing for nine years? I have never heard any college, high school, professional coach [say] that [he] was not able to spend enough time on football.”

And there is much much more. LINK

eta:
quote:

“[Richt] is a wonderful guy. He is a good Christian guy. He wants to be a missionary. He goes on missions. That is a wonderful thing. But do you know the religion of Nick Saban? Or Gus Malzahn? Or Chip Kelly playing for the national championship? I don’t think we care what their religion [is]. We hire them to be football coaches. If we are hiring religious instructors, let’s go to the Candler School of Theology over here in Decatur and get some of their people to come and coach our football team.”

You can't have a successful offense when your receivers can't catch and your line lays down every game. Greg Davis couldn't help that. Sucks that he had to take the beating for someone else's poor performance. Mack should have laid on the sword!

i didnt realize how amazing Tennesse is until i've read their fans on this board the past few days. I see a run of 5-6 national titles in the next decade in Knoxville.

Humbly disagree....UNLESS that old fart is an absolute HIGH PERFORMING proven commodity who is creative, thinks outside the box and not stuck in his ways (interpret: past). We should focus on high performing without regard for future tenure possibilities.

When you win, there will always be others trying to "pluck" your leaders. I would rather deal with having to possibly replace winners than deal with the frustrations of motivating mediocrity to perform at a higher level.

Davis would make a great QB coach for LSU. Maybe OC is a little much right now.

I appreciate your theory of tenure and age.

they must be a recruiter as well as understand and appreciate what Miles and the chief are into.
