I don't know why any coach would want to stay at ND without knowing who the new HC is

Because the new guy will likely want to bring their own staff.

If ND tries to dictate assistants to their new coach, it will narrow their list of candidates considerably, and wouldn't be smart IMHO.

Best thing for everyone is to let them go.

I feel like ND, being as pretentious as they are, is going to arse this up in epic fashion and lose Rees and Freeman. They will probably get Fickell though, but he will have to build his staff. Them thinking they can tell Freeman to stay put is wishful thinking.

Naw, according to half the people on this board, they just need to make a splash HC hire but keep the rest of the staff the exact same as the old fired HC's regime

I mean I would Probably stay at LSU if I could If I was 29 and the offensive coordinator.

But I went To LSU and so did my parents and my Whole family is LSU fans.

So I get Reese maybe feeling the same way

If they get Fickell, I imagine Cincinnati would try to hire Freeman.

Don’t forget that this is a Catholic school and sometimes the loyalty transcends the game of football. It is a special school and I wouldn’t be surprised if none of his current coaches come down this far south.

Because... it is Notre Dame.

Just like many players didn't come to play for a coach, they came to play for Notre Dame.

Same goes for many coaches. The came to coach at Notre Dame. They are open to options, but the default is to be there.

And then there's the faith, no pun intended, in their administration that cements that.
