RE: the coordinator issue. Isn't the point whether or not someone is a great football mind on the basis of their success? If you have a Saban or a Spurrier who is expert on one side of the ball and will make his team great (on that side of the ball) for a long period of time.

If Orgeron had taken a HC position without being a DC he would still qualify - if he made that defense excellent for a number of years. What you want is to see demonstrated ability.

If you ever watched Ole Miss defenses under Coach O, you would know how his players hit with the force of a concrete bat. Bad arse. But by the second half, with no offense and lack of depth, the defense burned out.
